190E 2.6 manual with 104k miles for £2.1k. I don't like the spoiler, but it's cheap.

Original wheels and a set of ambers.

Slightly over thread budget and lacking history.
I think I've seen this advertised before. It's overpriced for a high mileage car in an undesirable colour.

Also:

"It's fast; 0-60 in 5.8secs and limited to 155MPH"

As an owner of a similar car I disagree with the 5.8 seconds stat (it's not that quick!), but confirm that that mine is not limited to 155!
I think I've seen it before as well. It's a bit Miami Weiss but I reckon the black interior contrasts quite well. No history could be an issue for the vendor.

The black does contrast well but I find it hard to see the lovely lines in white.

Need to find a 400bhp+ barge in the next month for £6k ish. Should be easy right? :P
I imagine it'll have an AMG badge on it then.
Perhaps a Jag S-type R?

What other barges have 400bhp for under £5k?

400bhp-ish is fine smile
An X350 XJR is looking like the best bet at the moment - I currently have an X350 XJ6 and it's the best car I've ever owned. Also looking at the facelift S55 and S600 V12 bi turbo but they don't come up very often in budget. I do like the S Type R but find it hard to justify one when an X350 XJR isn't much more.

I didn't like the looks of them for quite some time but I think they are ageing well and looking better and better every year to my eyes.
I agree, like lots of older mercs they do seem to improve with age.

As good-looking as anything shy of a Jaguar XJ. Very fond memories of these.

It's a while since I've seen one of these. Very typically uninspiring period Jap interior, but you can be sure it's durable and functional.

I like it. A lot.

That seller also has a mini, 190e, 300se W126 and 400sel W140 for sale. All of which are cheap but not the best condition.
Seems he had a storage lock up until recently.

V12 AMG, can I ask what you think of this, including the asking price?

It's local to me and I am tempted to go and have a look.

Local to you? The pictures are taken a few doors down from my sister in law!! She lives just down the hill a little on that road.

Looks like a straight car with no immediate alarm bells. V12 badge on boot has to go.

Shame it is just a few months too old to have the MOST DVD based Comand and still has the old CD D2B Comand.

As usual, dealer lists "Total specification", pet hate of mine.
The following could be a few bargaining chips for you.
No Keyless go, no distronic, no rear fridge, no rear door blinds, TV tuner on the late cars has a different boot carpet on the passenger side, so not sure whether this actually has it or not, can't see the linguatronic stalk. Probably no heated steering wheel (extremely rare).

If you go and look at it :
-Cycle the ride height up and down over and over to try and expose any weakness on the ABC system.
-Take your time to wade through the service history. Check if ABC work or Coil packs have been done.
-Make sure you drive it from cold and dealer hasn't warmed it up to give the gearbox a good check. It is normal for the shifts to be quite slow and firm when cold but it shouldn't slip or bang at all.
-Take it up the A338 and boot it coming up the slip road. WOT is needed to highlight any coil pack weakness.
-I don't know your car history but these M275 motors are relentless when it comes to the shove in the back feeling. Make sure it doesn't have a turbo overun feeling when you lift off the throttle after hard acceleration.
-As with all these cars, press every button, poke every plastic. Most aren't specific to the bi turbo so not too expensive but the V12 does have the exclusive leather so any trim bits can be hard to get hold of.

In an ideal world you would take it to a MB specialist to have a STAR readout done.

Regarding the price, I think it is expensive. There aren't many good ones out there and the dealer states that in the advert. There are very few buyers though so you both have some bargaining chips. What's it worth? I'm not sure as I haven't been following the market on these. My gut says that's a £7.5k car maybe?

Why are these things always silver? It seems that the whole German car industry must have accidentally added a few zeros when ordering the silver paint smile

I bet they look properly stunning in something like sapphire.

A Vitesse Coupe was my first "proper" car after University. Fragile but lovely, I'm very tempted to go and snap that up even though I have no use for it and nowhere to keep it.

Checking in to Volume 9.

It seems appropriate to mention that this week I find myself working at the Nardo test track. As you come in the main gate there is a big display of various records that have been set at the facility.......

Of relevance to this thread quickest 10,000km, Quickest 25,000km and Quickest 50,000km all set in 1983 by a Mercedes 190E 2.3. I am not able to get a pic of the display as cameras are all covered up with stickers on entry to the site.
