I don't usually post on here, just peruse. Anyway, one of these passed me tonight and I thought it still looked ace.
This is only twenty miles away from me.
What do we think?

2001 Coupe 84,255 miles Automatic 5.0L Petrol
Air con & heated and massaging seats, just been to body shop - nice and sharp looking now, new alloys, new rear straight through back boxes...., Sunroof Electric, Climate Control, Cruise Control, Parking Aid (Front), Seats Heated (Driver/Passenger), Alarm, Alloy Wheels (18in), Computer, Electric Windows (Front/Rear), In Car Entertainment (Radio/Cassette/CD Autochanger), Seats Electric (Memory Driver/Passenger). 4 seats, BLUE, What a car - the spec of these cars is amazing for their age, everything works perfectly and the drive of this car is absolutely faultless - I have had any marks repaired at the body shop, put on some later alloys: 275's rear and 235's front....(could do with a refurb to be critical), replaced the back boxes for some straight through stainless cans so you can hear the V8 burble, all in all an amazing car for the money., , Car has also had hydrolic suspension pipes replaced and auto selector box (common expensive problem) - car is definitely up together and wants nothing doing - ready to go and priced to sell - no silly offers please., £3,499

This one was for sale months ago when I was looking at them. Of course massive bills will haunt your dreams but it could equally run for years without much needing doing. In which case you win!

Is it still with a dealer? The language has been toned down, the body shop line (and age, and £4999 price it started at) put me off (you can find plenty of facelift models for 5k) and the first go at the ad made that sound like something had happened, although it wasn't clear what. I think its been falling £500/ fortnight, so by April it will be free, but if you can't wait that long it does look good and the price is promising.

Does not look 'that' terrible and is cheap for a late car.

, the charm of a thread budget barge supported by modern tech really appeals to me, and done correctly it can look quite acceptable
"If done correctly".... well, I did this myself on a budget of £0.00 for the fitting wink

E39 530:
Bluetooth, DAB, front USB, rear USB as well so 64Gb flash drive with >4000 tracks in glove box.
Not entirely happy with the wood blanks either side at the mo, may rotate them 90' if I can work out how to hide the cut ends neatly (they are the old tape-deck flap, which gave it up for the team wink

It's a bit of extra work getting the MID in with the HU, mind wink

Good effort! I took out the whole tape unit from my rare Spanish E39 530i Sport and put a decent Pioneer head unit in - the tape player was faulty anyway.

I've upgraded the head unit in pretty much every car I've had - that's a lot of installs, but I used to drive all over the country and it was only music that kept me sane! I try not to spend too much money - I usually get a good improvement in the sound quality even keeping the standard speakers. Most times I add a sub with an amp and with the head unit amps running the standard speakers with the high-pass filter turned on I get very good results - not audiophile, but a major improvement. Doesn't help with boot space though. biggrin

If I can I keep the original head unit to put back in when I sell it and use as much of my kit in my next car. smile

The possibility of upgrading the head unit definitely influences my choice of barge.

Been for sale for a while and it'll be plenty longer before it sells I suspect.

I love it. Better cars may exist, but none of them are a purple XJS.

Christ on a bike, that even busts the budget of the Thread That Dare Not Speak Its Name.

Even being that purple and having the steering wheel on the wrong side, that's rather jolly nice, and almost as nice as this wallet/thread/thread++ busting beauty.

13 year old nav will be way out of date by now, I'd rather update my TomTom every couple of years instead.
Or just stick your phone on the dash and use Google Maps instead. It's free and infinitely better than anything that TomTom or any other sat nav maker has produced.

It amazes me how these lot are still in business. I only use my TomTom app on the iPhone if I'm travelling abroad and don't have a 4G signal.

The S124 could be a decent hack. I don't think I could live with rear silencers removed on the C140 however. MB spent millions trying to make them quiet cars and this modification is plain wrong IMO.

That looks really great, not too far from me either. Hmm.

Messaged the seller, might finally have a nice barge to smoke around in after too long in a shed.
