Does not look 'that' terrible and is cheap for a late car. Were I back in the UK, it would be on my driveway/carspace so quick.
The exhaust would be dumped by the side of the road. I loved that car (bought from a fellow PH'er on here)
Can some bargista give it the home it deserves!
I don't like the exhaust, the mentions in his thread about cutting springs, the rusty arches. Also, I've not really 'finished' with my 850 T5 yet in regards to getting it how I want or getting bored of it.

There were two owners after me that I know of (one of whom replaced the gearbox apparently) and then this chap. I did try to buy it back from the fellow that I sold it to but got the run around and then he ended up trading it for around 2000 quid less than I offered. Weird.I don't like the exhaust, the mentions in his thread about cutting springs, the rusty arches. Anyways, all cosmetic really. Very happy memories of that car around the UK and Germany. Baby was on the way so I sold it then realised what a stupid thing (selling, not the baby - she is a little hoon!)
I am now going to kick myself again for:
- selling that
- not just telling the seller of an S600 "I am here, here is money" rather than politely agreeing to his polite request that others wanted to see tomorrow
- cancelling the loan and putting the money back for an immaculate purple targa manual NSX for 18,000!!! That noise is my head hopping off the keyboard.
I digress

Not sure I'd bother with that. Looks like the current owner has lost interest in it and struggles drive or park safely. What's not to like?

Can't imagine who thinks blacked out windows is a good look on a Jag. Those poor wheels look properly mullered too.
At a guess the Parking aid has stopped working too
I think this one was a far better bet.

Yes, I'd seen that one, I was rather hoping no one else had, give me time to work on the missus who says she'd never drive and old mans car and has her heart set on a Nissan Cashcow. (I can't justify to run a petrol, even the 6 pot, on the miles I do and it's her car to change next)Can't imagine who thinks blacked out windows is a good look on a Jag. The benefit of the 'old man's car' stigma when it comes to buying barges is that 'old men' who can afford something like this (especially those who owned them from new) generally looked after their barges better than young men who can only just afford to run them.

IIRC you are the person that had the S600 which appeared on ebay a couple of times? I sort of recognise your username but more specifically recognise the photo location of your photo (I think)
Sadly, my old black X350 is in probably even worse condition than that blue one now (I sold it as mint a few months ago) The guy who bought it isn't a good driver to say the least - I know I should be happy I sold it for a good price and upgraded to an even nicer one, but I still feel rather sad when I see it.
The blue one could potentially be worth a punt depending on the mechanical condition - the bodywork damage looks fairly cheap to sort out.

I don't usually post on here, just peruse. Anyway, one of these passed me tonight and I thought it still looked ace.
This is only twenty miles away from me.
What do we think?
2001 Coupe 84,255 miles Automatic 5.0L Petrol
Air con & heated and massaging seats, just been to body shop - nice and sharp looking now, new alloys, new rear straight through back boxes...., Sunroof Electric, Climate Control, Cruise Control, Parking Aid (Front), Seats Heated (Driver/Passenger), Alarm, Alloy Wheels (18in), Computer, Electric Windows (Front/Rear), In Car Entertainment (Radio/Cassette/CD Autochanger), Seats Electric (Memory Driver/Passenger). 4 seats, BLUE, What a car - the spec of these cars is amazing for their age, everything works perfectly and the drive of this car is absolutely faultless - I have had any marks repaired at the body shop, put on some later alloys: 275's rear and 235's front....(could do with a refurb to be critical), replaced the back boxes for some straight through stainless cans so you can hear the V8 burble, all in all an amazing car for the money., , Car has also had hydrolic suspension pipes replaced and auto selector box (common expensive problem) - car is definitely up together and wants nothing doing - ready to go and priced to sell - no silly offers please., £3,499
Something very tempting about these cars when you see one that seems in good nick and with a decent advert. I thought about one a few years back as well but figured I'd spend 30 minutes each morning and night manoeuvring it in and out of my very tight parking space. Not such a problem now and with low fuel prices, maybe a V8 makes sense too...This is only twenty miles away from me.

Have any threadees owned one or got any general comments? I understand the earlier ones can rust like mad and the hydraulic suspension (?) can be a pain.

The body and all panels are aluminium apart from the boot lid and the front wings which are plastic.
The main corrosion point is where the c pillar meets the rear quarter usually.
Wipe back the aluminium corrosion, a little etch primer and on the paint goes. No big deal compared to the pre facelift W220 saloon which can rust very badly.
ABC and electronic issues are the real enemy as long as you stay away from one with a V12 under the bonnet.

Is it more special than an Escort Cosworth, or an E30 M3, or an R109? I'd say it is.
As a 4.0, no, it isn't. That's not to say the 4.0 isn't the one you really ought to have for sense and practicality - a 4.0 manual is probably the one I would personally put on the drive if I were buying an XJS. The 4.0 is a *better* car in many ways than a V12, but a V12 will always be the *special* car.And yes, I know that's perversely the opposite of the E-Type, but the E was originally defined and intended as a 6-cylinder car, and the XJS was originally defined and intended as a V12.
As an Insignia, even as a 4 litre it will always be more desirable to buyers than a standard V12 XJ-S - though of course a V12 Insignia will be most sought after of all.
Why are all the reasonably priced X350 8's a million miles away from me?
£2995, 120k on it but think I'd have this over the low mile Brummie 3.0

Only a few miles from me, and I'd spotted it on my daily local gumtree search. It went through the local auction from a Google (lot of Glasgow main dealer pxs go there) £2995, 120k on it but think I'd have this over the low mile Brummie 3.0

Sorry, for clarity, are you saying the V12 models are more or less "dangerous"? The ABC is what I meant by suspension problems, I couldn't recall the specific nature of them. The body and all panels are aluminium apart from the boot lid and the front wings which are plastic.

Be a long time 'til they're in thread budget, but I wonder how soon decent C216 CLs will be under £10k...?
