This one is within haggling distance of thread budget. Is that the going rate these days?
That looks very smart indeed.

How are you getting on with your s124 Rejn?

Shame this is a manuel, I would love a 190 diesel to smoke around in

I'm just glad it's at the other end of the country personally otherwise I'd be mighty tempted to chop the Alfa in (love the car but the diesel engine is doing my head in, all petrol after the 159). I'd prefer an '06+ XK but this would be a way into Jaguar V8 ownership that I can currently afford (and getting my favourite colour combo into the bargain as well). Doesn't even look too bad with the leaper either.

Be nice if they could take a proper picture of it....

....or perhaps knowledge of the registration would tell a different story to the description?

Been looking a lot over the past few weeks at w220's especially in 500 form. I really have no need for another v8 however I'm convincing myself this would be a practical solution in consolidating the fleet. I need to cut back from six cars (no I really do). Anyway, I was drawn to this...

High miles, looks well cared for and the MOT history looks decent.

For all the older Mercedes fans, you may just like this.

It must be laugh out loud, seat stainingly, prayer inducing fun.

W124 250D.... ish

I like that. Nice colours and one fo the few facelifts I prefer to the original.

Given he was after £3k or offers, it'll be interesting to see where the auction price ends up.

It has a few cosmetic flaws but not bad at all. Looks similar condition to mine overall.
170,000 miles isn't excessively high for one of these.
I love my Cubanite Silver W220. Can look properly silver, or gold, or grey depending on light.
54 plate facelift, good colours, Probably the best compromise of drive-train for very little money.

A venerable barge of a different generation lurking in the car port. My very first boss had a Wolseley 18/85 - VOF1J - quite the slowest and most lengthy gear changes ever under normal acceleration, not that it was capable of abnormal acceleration.

Fellow Bargistas,

Some advice please, if I may?

In a month or so, I've a lease car coming. Yes, I know, I know..... rolleyes

I'll be parting with my thread purchase 300E-24. It's due a service, MOT, and I have a pair of new front struts that need fitting. Although just inside top thread budget on purchase, and having spent a couple of grand on it over the past three years and 34K miles, it's not going to fetch too much. Too good to scrap, by far, but with faults. Do I get the work done, or sell as is for a commensurate discount?

Your thoughts, please!

VMT!

Under budget but more of a barge than the bargain basement thread.

Just bought a e38 95 (I think) 730i unseen for £200, getting delivered in the next few days. Other than the 1 picture of it wedged between cars I know nothing except is needs tyres + exhaust fixed for MoT. No service history, no idea of milage, dented door, rusty wing and dirty inside.

Judging from the picture it has style 15 wheels, does anyone know what the standard size tyre is for these wheels on a e38?

Definitely get the work done first if you can - that's one thing that puts a lot of potential buyers off.

'Style 15' is a 16" wheel...correct?

Then standard tyre size should be 235 60 16 for an E38.

Hi Harry - thanks for asking

It's not getting used much but when it has been used, it's almost faultless.
There was one minor problem when it wouldn't stop running.
A quick trip to a local mechanic and a perished vacuum pipe was spotted and replaced, and it's been perfect since then.

Having said that I haven't used it for a while...

Are they galvanised from 04?

All cars were galvanised from mid 2003. All 53 plates are usually in the safe zone so no worries on a 54 plate.
Also gets thousands of little upgrades everywhere besides the big cosmetic changes and the newer 7 speed auto. Lots of behind the scenes electronic revisions were phased in from 52 plate onwards. 54 plate will have every revised part.

I really don't get the appeal at all. A tad slower than the 2.0 petrol but with a massively heavy, nasty sounding lump up front to ruin the lovely W201 balanced handling.

That said, the 2.5 5 cylinder OM602 diesel lump is often referred to as the 'Million Mile Engine'. Something strangely appealing about that.
