Wasn't there a nice green one a few pages back for 2k? Looked very good to me.

Edit: sorry, 3.5k.

Did see that, maybe this isn't too bad value.

Thoughts?

I really like the car but the price seems a little high for the mileage, even being a clean mk4. Should I go for it as it's basically what I've been looking for for a year.
If that looks even half decent in person I'd jump on it, the maintenance record speaks of fastidious love.

Yes. I'm not enamoured with the colour of the gumtree one, but if the (comprehensive) advert is to be taken at face value then it seems like a good one. The FLSH up to 100k is nice - I'd like to see invoices of the stuff he claims to have done.

What are the odd warts on the outer edges of the rear bumper?
If they're parking sensors, why nothing in the mid-section of the bumper?

Newer, higher spec and better priced than than the green one from a few pages ago.

Interesting Jap import E55 in a rather grim white, but with a very low claimed mileage.

Didn't realise they got a different nav/centre console set-up over there. I like it.

To me personally I think it is bad value, but I am still stuck in 2010 when there were dozens of these for sale and £2.5k got you the pick of the market.

I'd sooner take a punt on a cheaper car or push for a LS430 at that money. I think one of the allures of the LS400 to this thread has always been that they have been cheap. Remove that and stick them in a market place where that money gets a new generation (arguably two) of barges and they don't seem to make as much sense.

Sounds like a well-love car. I do rather fancy one (albeit not quite as much as a 164)

It's also on the Jap spec 140. Pretty cool looking, in a retro way.

For 5 bags I'd expect a new boot badge and for them at least to try and clean the headlights up... Nice though.

IIRC Jap spec radios don't go very high up in the FM range, or at least not as high as the UK.

Even as a 190 owner I sort of agree. It is yet it isn't.

However it's like owning a small Faberge egg - Something special and luxury about it. My friends and extended family are normally into their newer cars but when I turned up in the 190 for the first time they were all over it with amazement. Even now they love to have lifts in it. Would a Mondeo or Vectra have received a similar response?

Part of the appeal for me is that it comes with proper Mercedes heritage and values - ie it was designed and built like a Mercedes should be - and it's wrapped in good taste inside and out.

I'm sure there are those who will give us a full on, dreary technical analysis of why it doesn't qualify for the thread but they've missed the point.
I think this comes back to my point a week or 2 back about a car having a sense of occasion. I think the 190 does, I don't think a mondeo does.

Also prefer the looks on the original amg monoblocks.

I didn't know there was a 320 version of these little C-Class Coupes. Seems good for under £2k and 72k miles. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

You can get a device that fits in line with the antenna to fix this. I think you had to add 5MHz to the displayed value or somesuch. The command being in Japanese would be more of a worry....

Careful with these, Car mechanics magazine did a feature on one. The cost and number of repairs needed, known issues with them, certainly put it in Uber barge territory for sure.

I think Jap imports are the future, 'ol Woodster.

I mean, just look at this:

http://tnydu.biz/DOsCgd

Only done about 40k miles. And what would you rather drive, a GCC spec car that's been ragged to death since the wrappers were removed, or a Yakuza staff car that's probably (definitely) been occasionally (quite often) involved in the odd chase from the law?

Exactly!

I don't regret many things I've done, but selling my '00 750 is one of the few regrets I have. Stupid stupid move... I mean, just look at the damn thing, talk about presence...

And if you've been looking for a year, and it's exactly what you want, who cares if it's a few hundred quid more ?
