I had a manual in sport spec and it was not barge like at all. The all have a Z3 steering rack so are very direct on turn in. The straight six sounds good and the shorter chassis makes it feel very nimble.
Not that I wish to derail the thread even more, but the rack in the E46 Compact was slightly different to the Z3 and not the same part. Very little in it, but the Z3 still had the fastest rack.

Bravo! clap

Surely someone needs to give it a good home rather than break the thing for spares?

Oh good, because I've been thinking about buying one of these and don't know where else to express myself wink

That won't receive much love here. However they're great little cars, fantastic for a B road blast.

I really liked mine, though they can throw the odd big bill. I decided that if I was going to spend a lot on maintenance then I should probably get a car that deserved it. So I bought my C32.....

Which is now for sale. Its been great.

With a boot that doesn't shut and a cave in the door, surely that is dreamland pricing.

I paid little more than that for basically the same car in very good condition with under a quarter of the miles.

Errr... I'm not denying that maybe a decent car and do someone proud for a few years, but £3K for a car with half a million miles!

No kidding! Utterly bonkers pricing as well... The fact that it's done a return trip to the moon plus another 80k miles is quite impressive.

Surely it's a £2k car. If one of five different things grenades itself it isn't going to be worth fixing.

To add two penneth to the what is a barge debate.

Not fking diesels. I've noted a few creeping into Thread. Just... no.

I'd concur. E46 was a better option during this period.
I'm generally a MB man but the W203 was a low point for Mercedes IMO and the C203 was the worst of the lot. It is only trumped by the W168 but at least that car serves it's intended purpose well despite being very un-Mercedes like.
I reckon the W415 is the worst MB so far - otherwise known as the Citan. I believe the 'C' in the name is soft and pronounced 'sh'. Way to piss all over your brand value, Mercedes...

Post-facelift I'd say about bottom of budget, the post "Project Drive" cars are nowhere near as good as the pre ones.

Honestly, I just hate the debate. The term barge is loose. Cracking deals on anything bargy is where it's at for me. I also quite fancy a 4.2 derv A8 next.

I don't even class that as a Mercedes, it's just a Renault Kangoo. Haven't experienced one myself so can't pass judgement really.

I suspect it's fine, much as the Kangoo is, but it's definitely not your typical Mercedes non-commercial product.

Having had both in the 75 version, would agree 100%, even more of a chasm in the 75, baring in mind it's selling points were NVH etc.
That car could be a blinder, but it's a long advert to not mention the belts and as there's no service history, you'll have to assume they haven't been touched, so you'd be looking at 500 quid to get them done with the water pump etc.
