I think we may have seen this before, but it's very cheap for a 560. Got to be worth a look, surely?

I have just emailed the seller of this car to ask for some more pictures. I fancy a car purchase and a 560 is on the list of cars I want to try. And a 190 at the other end of the scale.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C692826
Does anyone have any thoughts about this car? It has featured here many times before so I assume there's some issue with it!

The obvious is very welcome as you are completely right! Issue resolved, thankyou!
I was going to suggest this as I had an identical problem with a Vauxhall Corsa. It took me an embarrassing amount of head scratching and cups of tea before I worked it out!I also managed to do it with an Astra by locking the car from the key with the boot open. Somehow it was then opposite to the rest of the system until I used the emergency release latch and that synchronised it. Again, embarrassingly long to work it out before I sorted it out!

I'm going to flick through this ultra long thread in a moment.....
But for now does anyone care to recommend a barge for about £2000 - £2500 max. Requirements are must seat a 6ft 5.5 powerfully built individual in comfort. Must be automatic (bad back and knees), preferably petrol with a bit go and minimal wallet rape potential (asking a lot I know). Not too fussed about fuel as the car will do 5k a year.
I just looked at a (rather ropey) 2002 S-type and was shocked to find I could barely fold my legs in.
Anyone know what Lexus GS 300 is like for a taller driver and in general? I've seen a rather nice looking one up for £2500 which seems a tad pricey but it has FSH. Don't really fancy the trek if they are like a mini inside or known to be otherwise bad news?
If I can shift my mini I will hopefully be looking for something similar. I thought about an early Merc 190 but might be too small for you. Don't completely rule out the P2 S60/V70 T5 either, they are very good.

Is the 2.6 190 worth the extra over the 4 cylinder models? I have my eye on a 2.6 but am wondering whether the 4 cylinder engine suits the 190's ethos better.
My only experience is with an S124, but my experience there is that I'd definitely have the six cylinder over the four cylinder. With the 190 I would have thought it's less critical, although the six would still be my choice.

Should I get fed up with it i am sure an ad at 75% of the purchase price will shift it quickly.

It's actually easier to find a sensible mileage and well looked after C70 than S70 or V70 at this point, if you don't need the space it's a good option.
Don't completely rule out the P2 S60/V70 T5 either, they are very good.
No I sat in a P2 today and it was so comfortable, the perfect car for the taller/larger person. I am converted if only I can find one for sensible money. Don't completely rule out the P2 S60/V70 T5 either, they are very good.
I also had a look at a E39 and GS300. The 5 series had tons of leg room but the door handle was at just the same height as my knee which was annoying but could probably be worked around with a bit of DIY modification... the one I looked at was a total dog though; it had no coolant in it and mayo in the oil and I'm not sure why but the brakes were just 'wrong'.
So for comfort I'm torn between a GS300 (seen a 54 plate for 2.5k, a lot of car for the money) or a V70 which was by far the most comfortable of the three. Only problem is finding a decent V70 for sensible money isn't easy, especially as I would want the full fat T5 if possible and it must be an automatic.
So, Lexus GS300 or P2 T5... hmm

Plenty of P2 V70 buyers guides out there. Avoid anything before the '04 MY (which will include quite a lot of 53 plate cars), easiest way to tell is the earlier cars have grey dials and the facelift have a shiny ring around each dial. These squash a few of the earlier bugs. If you're buying one for £1k though it's less important to be fussy. Lots of advice about autoboxes out there too.I also had a look at a E39 and GS300. If you can get a 2004 onwards facelift with the 2.4 T5 engine and 260bhp they are even nicer with a lightly revised interior and even nicer seats.
TBH finding any of them that aren't high mileage/knackered/comically priced is a bit of a challenge. I don't think they sold many! You get better value with a S60, I really like the look of this one:

Another great W126 300SE, only 68K miles, good colours, and at least some velour... please someone buy it to stop me wondering...

A little overpriced perhaps, but early post-facelift in what looks to be good condition (interestingly, no MOT history online - just off a private plate?):I also had a look at a E39 and GS300. If you keep an eye on eBay, good ones pop up at least once a month.
