Citroen C4 Picassos can accomodate 3 car seats in the back, so NCAP tells me
How did you find that on the Ncap website ???
There's a section about child safety, and takes into consideration how many ISOFIX seats you can fit

7 seat option in an e class merc? e55 or 63 also included!!
+1 for Merc E Class Estate.

Colleague at work can fit 3 on the back seat and 2 in fold-out seats in the loading area. So it's a proper car which happens to seat 7.

You definitely want a Honda FRV. As a family car, for getting 3 kid seats in they work great plus you have a sixth seat without putting anyone in the boot. Honda quality and in a golf/focus footprint.
Multipla is the same idea, probably bigger/ more practical but is fugly.

That said we'll probably get a V70R or XC70, 5 series Touring or S6 Avant in the next 12 months or so, people carriers really make you wish you'd never had kids.
The SMax isn't that bad, sounds like you should have got the 2.5T.

That said, with two of our three still in boosters it'll be a while before I'm back in an estate. cry

Qashqai+2 has been brilliant for us over the past 4 years/40k miles. £150 depreciation / month brilliant too.

Nice facelift ones available for around £10k.

Vauxhall Zafira VXR/GSi. My buddy got one after his 2nd spawn and they are mental fun if you dont want to give up fun cars entirely. The old GSi can be picked up for 2-3k. Newer VXR is 4k+. Same chassis and engine as the Astra VXR (2.0 turbo) just slightly taller and heavier with useable seats in the back.

We've got a poverty spec 140bhp diesel, it's not at all bad to drive, you're right, there is no alarming body roll or odd meandering around in corners like the Citroen I test drove, it moves along at a decent rate as well, the 2.5T must be a bit mental, we looked for one but couldn't find one in budget that hadn't been LPG'd.

But the interior on the thing is a sea of light blue plastic and the build quality is pretty dire, I've had several Volvos and a VW that were nudging 200,000miles that felt less ragged than this thing did at 50k that could be down to the previous owners kids but you can't blame them for handbrake mechanisms failing and screws falling out places randomly or the lacquer on the alloys peeling off, basically we have no love for it and frankly I don't like the way Ford cuts corners on the little things, any company that scrimps to the point that their own company badged logo fades to nothing on the exterior of their product within a few years doesn't inspire me to want to cherish or forge a long term relationship!

Ah. We had a younger 2.2 diesel.

I can fit three car seat in the back of a Cmax, it's a bit tricky but they do fit, there must be a few cars that size they can. Tourans a good shout. Possibly some other 4x4s too

You can cram three child seats across the back of a lot of full-size saloons/estates - by full-size I mean 5 Series, V70, E-Class etc - and most mid-size MPVs - Scenic, Zafira etc. You only need to operate the seatbelts once in a blue moon when you take the child seats out - with ISOFIX not even that.

With boosters the game changes, though, because you need to use the seatbelts on every trip, and skinning your knuckles every time starts to get boring very quickly - it's also more or less impossible for the child to do it themselves if they can't see or reach the belt because the boosters are jammed up against each other.

Three boosters needs a wide car - a full-size MPV, so Espace, Sharan, R-Class etc or something at least as wide like an FRV.

If you have three sprogs then the vast majority of 'family cars' are nothing of the sort.

Or a different approach. Which is why I've ended up with a V70 - two built-in boosters cut the need for shoulder width. And kids can then do up their own belts - so simple, my 5-y-o can do hers using just one hand.

Yep - built-in boosters don't take up anything like as much space.

You really need to have a drive of an SMAX. It's big however as a family bus it performs brilliantly, and is actually a great drive as well.

You can get 3 car seats abreast in the rear plus the boot is huge when in 5 seat mode. Also my experience is that when the kids are a bit older, you are forever dragging around their little mates so a few extra seats are handy.

You don't need a big MPV of course, but once you get used to the space you really wonder how people suffer with smaller cars.

So they give isofix yet in c max? BIL has one a 55-57 reg and it doesn't have isofix as standard!!! It was an optional extra which as it turns out most didn't realise and didn't spec. I was horrified to find that out when looking at it.

Is the S Max the same

We have two boosters and a massive proper strap-in child seat for the 2-year-old.
Had an XC90 and switched to an S-Max.
Absolutely effing LOVE the S-Max.
Get the 2ltr Titanium, minimum.
Avoid the 1.6 if you ever want to overtake anything.
