Nice of all those Renaissance painters to "tart up" a few ceilings, wasn't it?

This is usable, drivable art, and nothing in the automotive world gets my heart beating faster than a Singer.

And I bloody loathe Porkers. Go figure.

Tarting up indeed...

Porsche will probably bring out a retro at some stage. They know what price to pitch it at.

Are all Singers 964 and earlier? And built to order I'd assume?

These things are absolutely stunning as mere objects, let alone cars. Absolutely beautiful. Top of the list following my imminent Euromillions win.

I have lots of money to spend on a customised 2+2 sports car. Singer 911 or Kahn Vengeance ... hmmm
IMO to mention those two in the same breath is a real insult to singer.
I can assure you it was a tongue-in-cheek comment ... smile
Sorry, I obviously have an American-level understanding of irony today! smile

These guys get a lot of (justifiable) adulation on PH but I'm a bit tired of hearing about them. I know - heresy.
Aren't there other outfits out there doing interesting things to other old stuff to exquisite standards?
If so I'd like to see some.

Here is one http://www.jensen-sales.com/ - I was lucky enough to have a go in their red demonstrator a while back - pretty astonishing! Its a beautiful (and very well sorted) thing and crushingly quick. They had a blue convertible Interceptor at Salon Prive not far from the Singer stand that looked achingly cool and nicely finished, bespoke built for a client I think.

I realise this may not be a popular view, but these cars just don't look right. They sit too low and the tyres are too fat. Gives them a childlike Disney-esque appearance. A prog rock cover version of a genuine soul classic. Each to their own, but not for me

I was thinking along similar lines. I love what they do to make what is an old sports car more desirable than a new one (for me), but only Porsches so far. Would they do another make if asked for someone who isn't such a Pork fan? Indeed, is there even another make or model that it would be worth chopping up and 'improving'. Things like an old Aston would appear to be too special to start with and others possibly not worth the hassle. Perhaps a late 70's or 80's Lotus? Any suggestions? Which car would you want 'Singered'? I'm leaning towards an XJS or possibly a Rover SD1!

There's a thread for that smilehttp://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=146...

My vote would be an old Esprit or BMW.

My " if money was no obstacle" car. Love them. Not been fortunate enough to see one in the metal but all the pictures of them are amazing. I am not a Porsche fan per se either.

Thanks for that! Some very good suggestions in it, would love a Classic RR or older BMW (6 series or E9). XJS or Esprit are excellent ideas. My new absolute favorite though would be a Singered Citroen DS, so much want...

Not that anyone should care about my opinion, but these cars make me rather sad. They are lovely, lovely things but I have to ask myself if such slavish devotion to the aesthetics of the past is really good enough. It's over and it happened a long time ago. I suppose it's part of a cultural malaise on a more general level.
