Anyone who has ever been to Japan will know that most folk over there drive with a considerable degree of care, not to say wimpiness.
Not sure about that? City drivers might, but out in the sticks they don't drive with a lot of restraint. We've had some very exciting passenger rides in heavy snow in buses and minivans. They get a LOT of snow. . . cheesesliceking said:

Err, it's September and 20 degrees outside? Slush most likely in February which is 5 months away. Or are PH using the marketing calendar that sees most of November and December as a snowy winter wonderland?
Anyway, always respected the Impreza and Legacy back in the late 90s. However, that was quite some time ago now and I'm not sure this particular example has dated very well. Surely there are more modern or desirable Scoobys for a bag of sand?
For example, not an Impreza but I'd rather have: 2002 Subaru Legacy

Switches missing in the dash, random bit of paintwork needed and will smell like a wet dog inside, then you'll catch a glimpse of yourself of the colour scheme and remember that pair of two tone slip on shoes you had that you thought were cool in the 80's.
No. Not then. Not now. Or ever.

Really looks alright for the asking price as long as it drives well and there's no major defects £950 ish isn't that bad.
However, I can't seem to find any reference to the status of its MoT. If it's got 9 months and the tyres are less than 70% it's shed-viable. Otherwise it's a shed fail I reckon.

We had a Saab 900 Turbo, then a baby arrived. "Sell it and buy an estate car", my wife said. I bought a WRX. Utterly awesome cars 15 years ago. I towed a Caterham to the ring behind it. I had a MArcos works driver show me the lines at the ring in it - all over the kerbs, and cooked the standard brakes by the fourt corner. I did Spa in it when it was too wet for the 7. I ran it for a couple years and then the head gasket gave up. Same problem with the second one.
I owned a 2000 V reg Turbo, bought it from its first owner with 14k on the clock.
Hey pesto (as Peppa Pig says) I'm scouring the local 'cars for sale' groups on Facebook and spot a blue Impreza with a familiar reg; yep, it's my old one, and as it happens, just a few miles away, now having done done 114k but looks pretty mint.
I contacted the seller who confirmed that it had the original dealer number plates, tax disc holder etc, and a certain 'modification' to prevent theft.
That advert, and this one, has made me realise how much I miss a Subaru in my life, although I did subsequently own a mint, low-miles WR1.
Damn you Shed, damn you, my wallet is twitching already

What's that noise? That low rumble accompanied by the sound of pebble-dashing and the occasional loud backfire?
If you were Shed listening to Mrs Shed's morning wake-up routine, you'd be grimly familiar with it. But what we're actually talking about here is this rather interesting first-generation Impreza Sport Wagon.

I remember taking a Gravel Express for a test drive back in 1999. We were hoping to buy an import Sti wagon but as the dealer didn't have one in stock we tried out the Gravel Express instead. The test drive was memorable for a couple of events. At one point we stopped at some traffic lights and pulled up next to a taxi. The driver of the taxi looked across at the Gravel Express and burst out laughing at the sight . When the lights changed we left him for dead. I also remember going around a roundabout at a decent pace and being amazed at how well it handled. Although the Gravel Express wasn't quite the car for me, it did sell the concept of a Scooby wagon completely. Shortly afterwards I bought a second hand UK Scooby wagon which gave many years of good service and sounded fabulous.
Just to re-enliven an old thread, here's my Gravel Express! Bought a few months ago. It's the only black one in the UK. The difference to a standard Impreza is a a 3cm higher ride, the bull bars (actually kangaroo bars as these were for the Australian market), the rear wheel carrier and the interior, which had basic seats instead of the buckets. They have STi suspension gubbins and the lovely turbo boxer. Should be around 260hp as standard, but mine has quite a few more.
