It doesnt work fine. Its polluting way above the regs.
As does every car out there.

I am very anti diesel, but get a grip.

As soon as anyone 'drives' their car, no matter what engine it is, it will be outputting roughly 10x what they output on the test.

Except that's not true. Petrol cars don't (don't get me wrong it's still not fluffy kittens and butterflies coming out of the tailpipe), petrol cars under "realistic" driving tests are still under the limits, diesels are massively over even at Euro 6.

Oh and have a source as well: https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Driv... Page 28 table 2.

I didn't realise petrols managed to stay under even in real world situations.

Diesel owners should be ashamed of themselves. Selfish, ignorant aholes. biggrin

Interesting graph (from page 5 here http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/10/11/emissionar... )

So in a "Real world study on Euro 5 light-duty diesels" by Imperial College London and Emissions Analytics in 2014. NOx levels exceeding standards by three times in most cases and not one of the tested cars managed to get near Euro 5.

I'll try again later.

I was expecting to see 'advertising feature' at the bottom of the page though.

and Avgas IS legally laced with lead. It's not far removed from the old leaded 5 star.

hmm.. so let's see.

VW finally get hauled over the coals in the US for sitting on their hands and doing nothing about NOx after being told to sort it.

Somehow in Europe VW now feel the need to retro-fit SCR to EU5 EA189 models. Which is where all this starts to stink, and to my mind indicates those engines failed EU5 testing but somehow passed, otherwise why are VW going to do this? So VW cars will now make convert water into wine?

VW also publicly claim it was just a couple of engineers...

Oh, and Winterkorn is *still* CEO of other VAG group sections.

So that's VAG permanently off the list of sources for replacing the current VW.

The way I look at it is if they found they can fiddle one set of tests then why not fiddle the others too if it is going to save them money or give them a marketing advantage (or both). I can't see too many car enthusiasts buying a diesel but the average punter is going to be influenced by low VED, good economy and the perceived VW build quality.

So we're getting new Fuel Injection and not SCR.

Which still implies VAG's EU5s are not EU5. I wonder if there'll be another 'treasury windfall tax' fine coming VW's way in 2016.

Received an official letter this morning from Audi, saying my car is impacted...

A service action will need to happen in the future, however no details as yet and will contact me in the future...

Was this reply aimed at me?

If so you may need a parrot.

I might reply with how about giving me an RS6 and I will forget about the cheating!
