I thought over-inflating tyres was pretty much de rigueur for mileage testing smile
We can throw out our air conditioning units in protest.

$5000 per car.

VW must be upping their bonus pool for 2016 already.

To those defending VAG - think of your favourite sport. Think of your favourite team/sports star. They lose a big title to someone revealed to be a cheat.
Is that acceptable?
If not, then why should it be acceptable - and in some cases applauded - in this instance.

VAG - the Lance Armstrong of the automotive industry.
To be fair to Lance, he was a champion of a sport where doping was the norm, although illegal it was reported that almost all other competitors were also caught in retrospective tests.

In this case it's the minority that are blatantly cheating the tests, the rest are just bending the rules.

The end result is a cheat of the customer though. Customer buys car because it's very low tax and they feel good about themselves. If the car shouldn't be in that bracket, they have cheated the system, but they have also cheated the end user. The customer may not have bought that make of car if a competitor had something similar.
Why do you keep saying the same thing over and over and over again???

I don't feel cheated
Based on the payout link above, do you still think the customers haven't been cheated?

So, they get a better breathing car, with better performance and $5k? Result!

VW UK won't even do that.

I'm sore about it because even the value of our EU6 car is affected by implication. Indeed you could argue that the value of every diesel car has been affected.

I like the car but I'd have acquired it in a different way (either lease or PCP) if I'd been aware of this issue. The calculation that buying it outright made sense has been shredded by VW's cheating.

I'm not expecting or wanting a payout of any sort - why would I care?

I don't expect compensation because vw are not being honourable to UK customers.

vw have treated UK customers like second class citizens.

USA have already had a goodwill package and now a buy back

I for one will not buy another vw because of this,,, and we have owned many previous vw cars.

Why would they? Our government isn't prosecuting them.

Cos if they treat UK buyers badly they will lose brand loyalty.

I appreciate others may feel different but I think they will regret this policy.

Wonder how sales are for UK main dealers at the moment..

Careful not to confuse decency with hard economics. The USA settlement and the consequent lawsuits are hitting vw hard.

They may not be able to afford to compensate EU owners due to the USA costs.

VW have shown themselves to be liars...why expect them to change that corporate trait...

As an affected owner, my new car order was never going to be with VAG. They can treat their customers like a stone in their shoe, their choice. I've spent my cash elsewhere, my choice.

Many reports of non-VW dealers being reluctant to take VW diesels and even VW dealers giving poor p/x figures.

I dont feel bad at all about the 'cheating' thing. Personally couldnt give a st. I like the car, it does what I want so pretty happy there.

What I am getting pissed off about is how our American friends are getting a much much better package of handouts than we are here. Why should that be? Both cars are affected by the same issue. Either compensate everyone or compensate nobody.

We can now do class action lawsuits in the UK I believe, be interesting to see if anyone holds VW to account.

What makes it even worse is the cars are 2/3 the price in the US that they are here, and can be leased at prices that make the recent Passat Alltrack glitch look expensive.

I see the 5k compo being discussed, but I just heard on the Beeb this morning that VW are offering to buy back half a million cars in the US at an estimated cost of 10 billion euros!!

I really don't give a stuff about the so-called cheating. However, I do fancy getting the missus a diesel Polo or A1. Are there some good deals going now??
