Quite a few fair points about the 'you can feel the downforce'
Hands up, I usually take manufacturer claims about downforce on road cars and at road speeds with a hefty pinch of salt. And I realise there's rarely any actual benefit beyond double most motorway limits and I don't have the denial to put that to the test on the public road. Pure seat of the pants thing, I'll confess to that, but you just got that sense of increased stability.

Dunno, could be utter bks!

Cheers,

Dan

Agreed. But we have to remember Audi got in a muddle with the first TT which they had to recall to fit a rear spoiler and ESP for stability,

One can only wonder what speed people were driving when they got into difficulty.

'it shows up how inert the rest of the 991 line-up has become'

If the Carrera I drove around in today is inert, I'd love to have a go in one of these...

Saw this actual car parked up and then getting fuel at the services on the M40 last week. Looked stunning.

in no way does it feel out of its depth among the racing machinery
The article read quite well, then I watched the video and saw the racing machinery were 2.0ltr Ginettas. No disrespect to Ginettas - they're great - but they do make a bit of a mockery of the Porsche at a third of the price. If you want to enjoy track days why not buy one of those instead and have a proper road car for the road?

Perhaps it's the gearbox but the 991 doesn't seem as 'delicate and precious' as previous RS's and the Ginettas do now make you think. Wait till the next RS is turbocharged...

Saw one this weekend going the other way.

Same color. Had the big RS GT3 graphics on the side. Which I approve of, especially with 911's since I'll never be able to distinguish good ones from regular ones without help.

I actually think the standard 991 GTS looks better in the flesh- that huge rear spoiler ruins the lines of the GT3RS-

The cracks continue to appear in the fanatical engineering over sense solution from VW Group.
Why is the aero fixed?

Yeah I'm with you there, no matter how functional the wing is, it is a road car at the end of the day and there's a line..it looks like a modded car, IMO, which is not what you want from a range topper...if that car had come out before the RS with Techart or RUF stickers what would the reaction have been?

Well tried very hard to get one of these cars but sadly no go, I am not paying over £100K over list for the car.

WOW! Seriously capable on track by the looks of things. Very impressive for something you have to get MOT'd.

BTW, I have no problem wearing Nomex at track days. I'd much rather "look a tit" for wearing it, than "look a tit" from having serious burns from my melted fleece/sweatshirt/WHY.

I just doesn't look right. The back wheel is just to comically big. should be at least 2" smaller with a bigger sidewall
