Carrera Cup rear tyres are 71 section. McLaren F1 ran quite high-profile tyres. Time for a comeback?

Firstly, and i can't remember if this is what was actually written (but I've pressed "reply" now, and in the interests of acting like the internet generation I won't bother checking), this is surely not as wild looking as the 993 gt2, which still absolutely looks like a cartoon.

And secondly, I just can't get excited about an automatic porsche, which is apparently so "everyday" usable. Without compromise you just have mundane. I'm still desperate to see/read the comparison between this and the proper 4.0l rs 997. You can always trust your gut when it comes to cars - the 4.0l gave me goosebumps from day one. This 991 bores me.

I was testing a 1973 rsr on a. Track day a few years back . It was on road tyres , merely a track day . Neil was running the car and asked why I wasn't wearing a suit and if I had one . I replied it was only a track day and would feel a bit of a tit . He said he had seen enough accidents on track days , and asked how much of a tit I would feel if I was involved in even a minor fire and the organisers asked if I had a suit and my reply was " sure it's in the garage ".

To be fair to this car my 4.0l is completely every day usable , no compromises whatsoever apart from the roll cage

How does rose jointed suspension translate to a road car? Do they cover the joints in rubber boots, or are they open to the elements? If the latter, how long does each joint last before needing replacement? I'm just curious as I'm not sure I've ever seen rose joints on a road car.

Can I ask as I have not heard much mention of this? The seats in the GT3 RS are if I am not mistaken the same as the ones in the 918. Having experienced these seats I personally feel they are one of the most uncomfortable I have experienced within a performance car. Add this to the very track focused set up of the RS’s suspension, am I the only one wondering if owners are in denial about how uncomfortable these cars may become after a very short period on the road or is it just me?

By the way this problem I feel seems to be spreading to other performance manufacturers, Lamborghini seats in the Hurracan and Aventador will put you into traction after an hour or so. Personally I could no live with them

Obviously it will depend on body size and shape, but the folding buckets are superbly comfortable.

It always amazes me when I read something like this, because unless the time is simulated, then 5 seconds over a 7m 25 second laptime isn't really an improvement in my opinion. Those 5 seconds can easily be lost by a mistake on one corner or missing the apex...

Who's to say the when the GT3 set the time it got a corner wrong or locked up the brakes on one corner?

Unless both cars are driven by the same driver taking the same lines in the same condition then yes it comparable but really...?

I'd argue there's not much in it and driver ability would net you the difference.

Don't forget 13 years of tyre development in the case of the carrera gt time
