Were thee cars costing something like £250k a piece at the time to build? It was a great era but no wonder it nearly finished the BTCC off and that following years were boring (in my opinion).
250k each to build way off im pretty sure prodrive put in around 5million for just the one year with the 3 cars.250k is about the cost of modern btcc cars for the smaller team.
I don't get the follow years were boring yes Vauxhall did dominate the next 4 years and 2001 was very one side but you had plato/muller/Thompson/priaulx/bennet vauxhal /reid/hughes in the mg joined later in the year, Honda had neal/soper/ also had tim Harvey in there as well. The field wasn't short on drivers and the action was always action packed. Just the battle between muller and plato for the 2001 title was some of the best battles in the history of btcc.
