Sorry but the Mk2 is not the one to buy now as an investment, it is going to come crashing down! Over the last five years they have been depreciation proof
That lack of depreciation was always down to the "RS Direct" effect and their artificial inflation of the used market in the early days once they'd obtained most of the desirable examples off the private market and added a premium before resale. Then they just kept at it for another couple of years so all the other dealers then pretty much followed suit with the pricing structure.

It will be interesting to see if they follow the same market when the Mk3 hits the roads & used market. If they do, I imagine the Mk2 will slip down the priority list and prices will finally drop to a level they'd expect to be.

So the price with no options has gone up over £1k and the car hasn't even been release yet. So next year when you will actually be able to test drive one, what do we expect base £33k??

The rise in list price is just for new orders placed from this week onwards isn't it, not against any existing original orders already placed?

Yes, they are now concentrating on GTRs as there will probably be a whole load of FRS Mk2s coming on the market in the next few months.

Yep, like i said on a dedicated thread about the RS MK3, getting people excited about the car and talking about a low price, way over a year before the thing is anywhere near showroom ready sucks big time. I hear November 2016 now?
I was interested but not at all now. If they are as good as they might be, i'll have one 2 years old, whenever that might be!

Is no one from PH picking up on the Focus RS Price rise in the UK?

Mentioned twice in posts ahead of yours - price has gone up after the initial orders have gone in, call it a discounted price for being an early bird ordering "off plan" so to speak

Happened with the Mustang too.

Those of us that ordered in January are going to start getting our cars over the next two months. There's one guy ordered his in DECEMBER last year & his car has now been sat at the docks for almost two months watching boats come and go.

Ford have royally screwed the pooch logistically with the Mustang so I wouldn't have much confidence in them for the RS.

^^ The only difference is that we've never had cars coming to the UK from Ford USA so communications are a bit unknown.
As the RS is coming from where all the other Focus's come from, it should be simpler. Should.

Personally I think Ford Eu haven't scheduled it in yet so can't give a firm arrival date.

I really liked the mk2 RS, I drove a 400bhp one and it was great. The only thing that put me off getting one was, in my opinion, one of the worst dashboards I have ever seen. I just could not sit in that everyday. Loved the seats though, just a shame about the dash. It looked fantastic outside too, real presence. This new one looks bland in comparison in my opinion but maybe it will look better in the flesh as the mk2 certainly looked better in the flesh than in pictures.

Same with the Focus ST I tried. Brilliant car. Far more fun and "alive" than the Golf GTI or R but terrible interior layout. Like something Amstrad would have put on a hifi 20 years ago.

Interesting about the cooling requirements. Will Mountune be allowed to push it any further, then?

Very tempted to put down a deposit now.

Well it'll have been engineered to cope in maximum heat (eg death valley type conditions) so there should be some leeway for the UK if need be.

I'm seriously tempted. I shouldn't and I'm managing to resist so far but it's getting harder...

Am I the only one who thinks that Ken Block should get a new tune to play? His videos are so boring. Seen one, seen them all.

I've always been into hot hatches..... I've never really fancied anything ford before, but this is really doing it for me this time round. I found the older one too chavish and the new one just seems so much more grown up.

This is a serious contender for me next year when I'm looking for a new steed.

I know there are some mixed comments regarding 3 vs 5 door, however for ME (My opinion) Is that having a young baby and family this car will be great, it can still be an RS, and also tackle daily life.. we struggled so much with our 3 door Clio RS Cup, and giving family a lift was a pain. I hated giving that car up but it had to go..

I for one actually am thinking of putting a deposit down (because) it has 5 doors smile
