335i and other options
Discussion
Bored of my MK5 R32 that I bought in Dec 2014 and miss the quality of BMW from when I had my 123d M Sport. No I don't want another VW.
Been looking for a 335i saloon and touring. After an arrogant sales conversation about a 335i saloon, I'm a bit WTF about it all. It was a good spec N55 auto LCI edition
So alternatives £16k ish range. S4, S4 avant B8 etc?

Looked at the S4 and S5 when I got my 335i and preferred the 335i hands down
I'd persevere and find a seller (dealer or private) that isn't a cocksocket tbh
Pretty much what I'm still thinking. Dealer wanted to buy blind as desperate for end of month, err no. Sadly now sold, but the guy was such an idiot I was loosing interest in driving to Essex to view it.I'd persevere and find a seller (dealer or private) that isn't a cocksocket tbh
I've asked Birds what they've got on the radar. Sytner have asked my views out a Coupe, but just can't see it being practical, so I was really hoping for a Touring or saloon with folding seats etc.
Birds have said get the R32 sold and then sit and wait...
Fortunately I work from home or walk. When I do travel for work we have a nasty Skoda in the car park. I'd prob get a £500 barge whilst waiting tbh and we've got my Mrs 60 plate Fiesta.

Why would you not want an E46 M3 at this price range. Surely a 335i is the poor cousin here.
Here you go again, you probably have never so much as sat in an m3 or 335i let alone driven or owned one - but once again you are advising people, based on what experience exactly? 30'000 posts of mainly spurious ste.
Come back when you have actually driven the cars you are commenting on ( if they will let you drive one).

Firstly are you completely dumb? Try taking a look at the thread title for instance. The op has ask for options. 30'000 posts of mainly spurious ste.

Second, don't you dare preach to me unless you NEVER comment on a car you haven't driven.
Thirdly you have no clue what cars I may or may not of driven.

Do your own research etc but I think all the coupes come with folding seats as standard? I used to have one on a 56 plate and found it more practical than the merc saloon I had before (which I realised after buying didnt have folding seats!). I used to get a road bike etc in it without problem.

Don't try and search for alternatives, doesn't sound like you're struck on them anyway.
This is leggy but it's the new model and wears its miles very well.

Ive got a saloon E46. Apart from back seat passengers having slightly more room, I can't see how its actually more practical than the coupe a mate used to have. If you can get one with drop down seats I don't think there would be much in it TBH.
I think all E46 coupes have split/foldAlthough an E46 M3 may be tempting I would stay clear of those for a few reasons... E46 stopped being produced early 2005 so at best you will be looking to get a 10year old car, on top of that its engineering is from late 1990's... It shows on the interior and ergonomics, etc. Rust on the sills is very common, the chance of getting a mint one is low and a 10year old performance car like the M3 will start to cost a bit in wear and tear...
Saying that a mint, excellent condition one is still a good car but just be a bit careful of the price trap on one of those...
Completely silly suggestion but have you thought of a Mazda 6 MPS? It's cheaper own and run and drives well with a cracking engine... Not as good as a 335i but decent nonetheless...

The mps 6 is no 3 series alternative. I've owned an mps 6 and found it felt cheap. The engine is not that strong and even standard have been well known to throw a rod out of the block. Air con Pipes corrode, vvt system is known to fail, sensitive to the same tyres all round, paint is very thin, they rust, I've seen some with more rust than my 14 year old 5 series bmw, short service intervals, you need to remove some things in the boot to get the rear seats to fold, the boot was tiny I found. I really didn't enjoy my ownership of it and sold it after 2 months.
