Yeah, guilty as charged. Should have read the op properly. That actually makes it harder, probably my step mums frogeye sprite. She's owned it for 43 years, I'd like to keep it forever
Nice smile

Corvette Z06. 2008. Like mine.
For someone who changes cars every 4-5 months on average and owns 4 cars at a time on average, this has been a stayer, over 2.5 years already.
505 bhp. Cheap to service. Easy to work on. Stunning looking. Big boot. Fantastic engine with 505 bhp and anything up to 1,200 bhp available.
PTW ratio as stock to destroy V12 twin turbo Mercs.

I have chosen mine. I love the styling, it was what was futuristic when I was young. It helps that it has a great engine and is very rewarding to drive. It has also appreciated nicely in value since I bought it many years ago, and it's my favourite colour.

An F40.

By the premise of the thread I'm never going to sell it so I don't care what I'm doing to its value by putting endless miles on it. I'd track it as well. don't think it would ever stop being special. I need a car to challenge me and it'd certainly do that.

Putting my sensible hat on, having a single car for the next 50 years or so requires more thought than naming one of my favourites, how much would the annual tax rise?, can I afford the fuel consumption if I lose my job?, what if the wife has another baby?, etc. What's it going to cost to maintain? (especially when the car is half a century old), am I going to be entertained when going for a drive on my own, or uncomfortable on a long commute or continental trip?

This is my answer I think if I had to choose from all available cars at the moment:

This is an easy question for me to answer since I have owned my '92 Jaguar Sovereign for a very long time already - and I don't anticipate I will ever be without it. It is superbly smooth and comfortable car which also has good handling and road ability. It really does fulfil that trite phrase 'all the car I'll ever need'

It has been a wonderful and completely reliable motoring companion for me since the last century. If you haven't driven an XJ40, I suggest you try one. They're excellent old cars and cheap nowadays.

That's lovely. The 308GT4 is a beautiful looking car - better looking in my eyes than the 308GTB.

If money was no object, it would be a Zonda, any Zonda in fact.

Realistically, probably a Sagaris or a Tuscan 2.

I'm in the process of selling my MK V GTI which I thought at the time would my One Car for life, so I'm not really the best qualified to answer this. But If the two car solution were a permanent economic certainty, I reckon a Lotus 7 or Elise + whatever shed would be all you need forever.

You can have other cars for practicality etc, but what car would you commit to keeping until the petrol runs out?

Same as Dickie Meaden - a Seven. Had them for nearly twenty years and life without one would be less fun. Never driven an early 911 but I like the idea of Singers (love early 911 looks - later ones just have ever more huge backsides ); also love the F355 even though my enthusiasm for Ferrari V8 noise is well under control .

But thinking about it more ..probably a really well restored Elan Sprint dhc. There has never been a better looking small sports car, the packaging is a masterpiece and they are so much fun to drive .

As i have said elsewhere that was the most over-rated car i ever drove...but i can see why many people would think it would be an amazing car.

I guess I am lucky in the fact that I already own my "one car for life"; 2006 Mustang GT, does everything I need. Great daily driver and a great race car.
