What would be your "one car for life"?
Discussion
I also already own it, and again it's a humble choice compared to some of the cars already mentioned but it is the car I promised myself I would own one day when it was new ( young family back then so couldn't afford it).
My Focus RS will be coming to the grave with me, as I intend to be buried it in.
God knows how much the plot will cost the wife, but to be honest it will be of no concern to me as I will be brown bread!

There's a bit of perversity in my soul as I've already got it, my Rover 200 Coupe (Tomcat gen ). I've had it for the past eleven years which is over half the time I've been driving with no intent to get shot (they'll have pry the keys outta ma' cold dead fingers! ...if I can keep it running anyway).

Luckily I have my car for life already it's the CLK63 AMG great handling very rare & more stealthy than the Black Series only 19bhp down if left standard, I've tried replacing it twice but it's now a keeper.
I like them cars. A bloke I know had two of them at the same time, a black coupe and a silver cabrio. Looked cool parked nose to nose Well I love my Griffith and have owned it well over ten years now which is a record for me in itself
But I can never seem to get very far without at least thinking about a series 1,2,3 xj6/12
I just don't go more than a day or so without thinking or looking at them it's a disease I tell ya
I just can't help it, havnt even owned one now for years and the ones I did own we're not exactly concours
I have dreams of resto mod version's and just plain simple perfect original ones with Kent alloys
Considering I love my performance cars and hot hatches I still can't stop thinking about them
I just can't, I love so many different cars and want so many but my brain by default keeps looking and looking at those ruddy
Daimlers and jags, every time I see a thread in the classic car section my heart melts and my imagination runs away

Land Rover Defender.
It'll do pretty much anything you ask of it. Go pretty much anywhere you want. Carry pretty much anything you want. Can change body styles to suit your lifestyle and is totally bolt together so could stay with you for life as anything that rusts/bends or breaks can just be replaced.

My Defender was my first and will be my last car.
It's noisy, draughty, leaky, cramped, not particularly quick even with a decent engine and doesn't ride or handle well but I love it. It's unique, I learnt to drive in it, it helped kick off my racing career while I used it to tow my Caterhams and generally there are loads of memories attached to it over the years. It is a legend!

Has to be the integrale. I've owned deltas since I was 18. Many years ago.
I still have a delta at the tender age of 42. I can't see me being without it.
It's an event driving an integrale, I feel a part of it. No other car means the same to me.
When I was a 16 they introduced the hf4wd. Supercar performance for the price of a Granada and looked in my eyes to be the perfect design. They kept getting better as the years went on. Other cars came and out performed them, were cheaper to tune and more reliable. But for me, the integrale was still my love.
It's off the road so often family and friends keep, trying to tell me to sell it, but I won't. I will retire with it, we shall grow old together. I still want other cars and buy some nice machines but the lancia is here for good.

An F40.
By the premise of the thread I'm never going to sell it so I don't care what I'm doing to its value by putting endless miles on it. I'd track it as well. don't think it would ever stop being special. I need a car to challenge me and it'd certainly do that.
As i have said elsewhere that was the most over-rated car i ever drove...but i can see why many people would think it would be an amazing car.By the premise of the thread I'm never going to sell it so I don't care what I'm doing to its value by putting endless miles on it. A really nice chap took me out in his F40. I would describe it a mind warpingly fast. I don't know if it is a "known car" but he was a Sikh chap and it had the crossed swords on the rear grill.
My choice would be my R107 300sl. It is navy blue with cream leather interior. These are such underrated cars. Much more usable and cheaper to run than a w113, but with most of the looks. I swear it was designed to be driven with an elbow on the door window sill (ideally with a cigar).
Don't tell anyone, but it has a very expensive Alpine stereo with a bass tube in the boot. A previous owner must have spent a fortune. I love to rock out when I go for a weekend spin!
I can't ever see me selling it.
