For the benefit of those who have mentioned the TVR wedges here's a small realisation of my own, my old 450se from a few years ago just after I refurbed the wheels............

The Sierra, unveiled to the public on the day I was born. Always loved the design, especially an early hatchback with large lights and think it has aged very well. Dad had a few as company cars, including one with a built in phone which to my young mind looked like it had come from the bridge of the Enterprise. The early Cosworth was like some sort of semi-mythical supercar (it has a bigger spoiler than a Ferrari, so must be faster than one) and the Texaco livery remains my all time favourite. Insurance meant I could never take advantage of the £3000 Sapphire Cosworths or £500 XR4s when I did pass my test, but did own a humble 1.8 estate that proved incredibly reliable.

I know I should say a lottery win would mean I'd buy a Moonstone Blue RS500 and wrap it on cotton wool, but I'd rather buy a 1.3 base with the grey grille and droopy mirrors, put a V8 in it and leave the outside completely standard.

Would be Saab's for me too I guess. Dad had about 6 on the trot I think, all 9000 models of various specs during my child hood. He had a BMW 5 series before them but I was too young to remember. I, like the majority of kids I guess, used to shout 'faster dad faster', and he usually obliged. Then he turned to Mercedes, and everything got slower since! I'll always have a soft spot for Saab's, I was gutted when they went bust.

As a teenager it was probably the escort cosworth, had posters on the wall, models on the shelf and a radio controlled version of the repsol sponsored rally car. Test drove one when I was at a point in life that I could both afford the car and the insurance, sadly it was a massive disappointment.

Watching the early/mid 90's BTCC is what first got me into cars.

American cars did it for me as a child. This one in particular. I like the fact that the bonnet has the model name, Thunderbird, and not the manufacturer. I also like the removable panels in the rear wheel arches.

Exactly this, bloody great memories of watching this and then wanting Dad to pick up a red 155!

Ferarri 308, in an unexpected British Racing Green-like colour. Parked in a lane near Dunster in Somerset mid-late 1970s. That is the only car image that has stuck with me throughout my life. I still think that if I ever ordered myself a new Ferrari I would have it in that colour, funny how historic memories affect you years later.
Interesting ; it seems compulsory to have a Ferrari in rosso corsa. In the case of a 250GTO or a P4 it should be compulsory but some just look so much better in different colours. I hugely admired a 355 in dark green with tan interior . Some Ferraris just look perfect in just the one colour- silver grey for 275GTS and metallic blue for 330GTC

Wasn't much interested in cars pre-teens, probably due to my parents choices (Austin 1100, Wartburg and Marina) the first car I remember seeing a picture of and going weak at the knees was the 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO, the design features (pop up lights, blistered arches, duck tail spoiler, quad rear lights, flying buttresses, 5 spoke alloys, pointed shark nose and overall "Coke Bottle" waisted styling) have stuck with me ever since.

Wow, that brings back memories of my first car - a 1985 900i Sedan (4-dr). It was actually my Dad's car from new, which I learnt to drive in, until he gave it to me when I was 19. Loved driving it, although the lack of a left-foot rest was a bit of a pain. In hindsight, I'm sure he was thinking it was probably the safest place for me to be when I inevitably crashed it (that fate had to wait for its replacement!), but I just thought it was the coolest first car possible. Well a Turbo 16S probably would have been cooler, but that wasn't going to happen

As sad as it is to say, this old Swedish barge actually did seem to appeal to the chicks when I was at university. It might not have had the GTi street cred of my classmates' Rover 216 or Nissan Sunny, but the Saab certainly seemed to hold some attraction (it wasn't my chat-up lines for sure anyway biggrin)

I note that your one was de-chromed. I think that was an additional "sport"-pack at the time, which mine didn't have, but can't remember the name of it. Any idea?

You poor sod, that's even worse than my parents' Mini Clubman Estate, Talbot Horizon and Toyota Carina Estate.

Also loved these.
Worked for a very rich man and he had one.
I was gobsmacked when he took me for a ride.

This was a car everyone in the family just loved!
It was just the most perfect machine for kids, parents - everyone.
We had, many cars but this was the most loved and missed.
Even without power steering - would you believe it!
