Most influential car as a kid?

Sadly, my Dad didn't influence me much with cars as a kid as he wasn't really bothered what he drove. But, a friends father was really into cars and visit to his house were always a delight!
Most memorable was a lemon yellow countach, actually supposedly the first in the UK, still with Geneva plates. Being taken for a spin down Wembley High Road in this super machine is something I'll never forget! No chance of having a real one, but I got a lot of die cast ones instead! LOL!
In the 70s he also owned a Camaro Z28, Espada, Pantera and DBS V8! No wonder I became a serious lover of cars!!
Possibly the only time my Dad did help fuel my car obsesssion was in the late 60s when he had a business meeting at Bristol Street Motors in London and took me along. There in the showroom was a lime green Miura!!! To me it was the most amazing car ever and to be honest I'm still not over it!

Hah.........I know what you mean. I had a similar ‘Muira’ experience, some 45+ odd years ago. We used to live quite close to the old HR Owen showroom on the A40 Western Avenue, and as it was a petrol station as well, I always used to always nag my Dad about getting petrol there rather than anywhere else just so I could leap out of the car and run over to the showroom window and press my face against the glass and gawp wide eyed at whatever exotica was inside. Two cars in particular stick in my mind seeing for the first time, one was a silver Ferrari 250 Lusso (probably why it’s still my favourite Ferrari) and then seeing a Muira for the first time, it was bright lemon yellow one. HR Owen was a good place to visit for car lust!
Another great garage to go to in the 70s was Simpsons at the lower end of Wembley High Road (a council office now).
They were importers of Amarican cars and oddly, Monteverdi!
My first experience of a Mach 1 Mustang was there (just like the Bond one in Diamonds are forever). A few diecast were bought after that! LOL
It was a great after school excursion and as my mates Dad bought cars from them regularly, we were always welcome and allowed to sit in the cars! Monteverdi were pretty decent looking things too!

Even at 46 years old I still stop on occasion just to look at something. I drive past Long Stratton Motor Co fairly regularly (mainly Lotus and Aston with a few Morgans) and recently they had a Caparo T1 in. Fortunately I don't have to find an excuse to stop as there is a fuel station right in front of the showroom
