Has this thread made it to the cringeworthy thread yet? Cos it should.
We don't need your entire life story. If you want the car just buy it FFS.

I think it's a really honest post from the op. Yes it helps to have the facts and finance.

However buying a super car ( well it's not really) probably won't help you get laid.

Arguably it might, move in the right circles there is bound to be some girl who thinks, hooray, life of luxury for me, but not when you have to take s girl back to yr parents at 30.

Well, I have a cheeky R8 V10 manual with 24k miles for only a couple of £k more than your budget for sale. You'll not loose a ton on it either come resale. smile

Go for it if you want it OP. You can always sell it. Seriously though, there are some much more interesting cars for that money.

Get a nice car by all means, but you could half the budget and get something that will bring just as much joy and likely appreciate in value (XKR-S, V8 Vantage, 997...) and divert the saving to the rest of your life. I couldn't spend so much on a car whilst living at home.

To some extent I do care what other people think, professionally at least. There was a young lad at work until recently who was spending all of his salary bar £100~ each month on a new Audi S3 plus £5k/year insurance in installments whilst living with his parents. He then upgraded to a V8 R8. Far from anyone being impressed, he was a bit of a laughing stock even among his peers and especially amongst the females. It's not the sort of asset portfolio than inspires a lot of confidence within the management. People do judge and rightly or wrongly it's too easy to dismiss it as immaturity & bad judgement to be frank.

Solid post. Other people can make strong judgements about you based on your choice of car, not always what you'd hoped or planned for. A true petrolhead chooses for his own reasons ans expects few others to understand, why should they.

An infinitesimally small amount of time vs us as worm food. How many enjoyable Summers do you think you have left? How many more 'Now that's what I call music' releases?

Get the car, OP.Even those being sensible end up in a box, so why bother?
