The render I provided is not an official Mazda render but is the latest render from a Japanese website a few weeks ago.

Mazda could try the rotary again as there have been a lot of advancements with the 16x concept but I'm sceptical. This concept may not be an RX car but rather a new MX car and will use either the new 2.3/2.5 turbo Skyactiv that will be in the next Mazdaspeed 3 or the 3.0 V6 turbo Skyactiv being developed for the larger cars in the US.

Out of interest, is there a reason it has German plates on it if it comes from a Japanese website? Is it just that it makes it more exotic in Japan?

I have no idea. It's just a concept image I found. Take it with a grain if salt as the car we see at the Tokyo show is likely going to look a bit different.
