The fuel tank is 105 litres which I find big enough... especially when filling in a busy petrol station as can take a while...

Re running costs I have done c14,000 miles in mine and been offered more than I paid for it which is better then the M3 I had as that lost £20,000 in less miles... Servicing is c£975 at a main dealer and the extra things I have had done as this is a keeper such as changing the gearbox oil and some other elective jobs have come in at around £1000 per year. Insurance in London is £1100 per year.

My ball joints were done under warranty at c20,000 miles, there are apparently "better" after market ones which last longer, however mine are Ferrari's "new / improved" ones :-)

Apart from that they are great cars that can swallow 2 weeks worth of luggage for a European trip and still offer some "pace" when needed.

Wonderful GusB.

Unfortunately, I've never had the privelege to drive one but I imagine it's a wonderful feeling every time you sit inside.

The closest I've ever got was helping a customer choose if he wanted to refurbish his ceramic brakes or retrofit steel ones. His was really tasty looking, black with tan leather. Perfect.

Any pictures of yours?

I have a Supra. Never did I think it remotely resembled a Ferrari; a 550, 599 or otherwise
Agreed.

On another note, how good does a 599XX sound? cloud9

Mental! Then again, they are not for the road, so they have tiny racing cats and sound delicious! biggrin

I went to a Ferrari track day and I actually preferred the noise of the 599 flying by than the F12.

My neighbour on the other side of the road has an F12 and sometimes leaves it running outside his house to warm up, not that he hardly ever uses it of course!, but what a lovely start to the day that is. hehe.

You are right though, a 599 sorely misses the DCT. After you experience DCT, going back to the F1 gearbox is tough!

I have no doubt that they can be made INSANELY fast - heck, I've watched the youtube videos myself! As can the M6 with it's twin turbo 4.4 V8 wink

I just think the guy is somewhat of a black sheep in thinking that his Supra looks better than the gorgeous 599 GTB.

M6's are terrible cars though, and looks are obviously subjective.

If the list of previously owned cars in your profile is anything to go by, I'll let you get back to owning whatever the Sunday Times motoring segment tells you to buy with the rest of the sheep. I wonder if you've even driven a powerful car without ESTCIXPSDIFF Active Stability Dampening Smart Traction Control, and without 10 different throttle settings?

I wouldn't say the M6 is a terrible car, just that it doesn't quite work. I found it too noisy and unrefined to be a good GT car and too heavy to be a good sports car. Though the DCT gearbox is superb and the twin turbo engine hugely effective. It might make a good used purchase in a year or two, but it really misses the magic of the previous gens V10 howl. At its £100k list price though it is pretty terrible!!!!

Other than a couple of micro brands, I can't really think of any cars being produced that have lots of power without lots of electronic aids. Don't really see the relevance of it anyway? The F430 was pretty basic, though on track days I didn't turn all the gear off because I'm not a pro driver and didn't want to stack it. And so what? Even if I had turned all the electronics off I'd still think your opinion that a Supra looks better than the 599 is crazy!!!

The M6 to be only makes sense as a coupe; that way its a rival to Bentleys, 599s etc as a super fast, super comfortable, long distance cruiser luxury GT car.

They don't have the Ferrari magic but are every bit just as quick and a complete bargain on the second hand market.

The S85 V10 models are too temperamental but boy do they sound good. I remember hammering mine through tunnels just for fun biggrin

It's just not a good enough interior to get close to matching Bentley's luxurious build quality or the 599s Ferrari sex-appeal and stench of expensive leather though! I think it would be much better as a coupe than cabrio since that would make road noise far more tolerable and improve performance massively through greater rigidity and less weight. But I'd still just rather pick up the Mercedes equivalent - CL63 AMG or the S63 Coupe - as they have the interior quality that a proper GT luxury cruiser needs. There is definitely a case for a used M6 coupe, huge performance, superb gearbox and perfectly decent build quality (if nothing special), but they are not for me. I bought mine brand new, did 15k miles in 8 months and was bloody pleased to get rid of it, despite a big financial loss (obviously).

If my M6 would have had that incredible S85 V10 soundtrack I might have kept it a bit longer, or at least enjoyed my time with it a bit more. Definitely some tunnel runs would have been involved hehe.

Add in the fact M6s depreciate horrifically, you can now pick up 13/63 or newer for circa £45k on.. considering they're around £100k new with a few options thats a pretty good buy. I don't think you could ever say that they're in the same league quality wise as a Bentley or DB9 (although less so with aston). They're a GT car especially with the weight and firepower they have.

If I had £100k to spend on a GT kind of car with plenty left over for running costs I certainly wouldn't be buying an M6. Id be Thinking Aston Martin DBS/ DB9, Bentley Continental GT/GTC, S63 AMG (although lots of driver aids/techno fest), or Maserati GranTurismo (now discontinued). I couldnt buy an M6... I do wish that Audi with bring an A8 coupe (A9) and rival the S coupe and S63amg coupe...Not sure If Ive missed any rivals - SL63 AMG or Ferrari 599 (values have soared a little here).
