I' don't intend on selling my land cruiser and the bushes, branches, banks and everything else found in the country side and mountains etc, have all left their signature on my car. However it is mechanically maintained to very high standards though.

Sorry PH but this is a bullst headlined, click-bait, Daily Mail style article that reeks of being promoted content. About as interesting and useful as a NP&E thread.
I'm pretty sure we'll be getting a PH Stylee discount like the lads have negotiated for us from Adrian Flux & Tyre Giant hehe

This kind of stuff is like expensive engine oil. You know the sort, made from the tears of angels and baby Unicorn jizz.

If it makes you feel happier and you can afford it, why not.

Or, if you just want a quick trip to the local jet wash and a wipe over with a microfibre cloth and a bit of spray wax now and again, like me, you too can be equally shiny.

Warning, Redneck content ahead.

To a lot of people, part of the pleasure of owning a nice car is to spend time waxing it yourself rather than just throw a bucket of water over it now and again and if your the sort of person with so much money that your happy to throw away £2k on a detail are you really going to notice the difference between that and a regular wax?

If I was that OCD I'd just use the 2 grand to get my car detailed once a year by a pro. Cost would work out about the same.

I don't think this has ever happened.

OK, so you spend £2k every couple of years on this sealing process. You spend gawd knows what on regular washing and waxing and detailing and having virgins lick your car clean every time you even think about using it.

Congrats. When you come to sell it, it's worth £200 more than one that's been down the local Romanians whenever you forget what colour it was painted.

How many times have we read stories like this, making these promises. Back 50 years to 'Turtle wax for that hard shell shine - tested in death valley '
What is new about this is the price. Contrary to your headline you do still have to wash the car with water and shampoo.

Theoretically, it would happen. But it would probably take a long, long time.

Granted I wouldn't fancy machining my car every fix months for five or six years, but if it is even remotely looked after then it shouldn't need re-polishing every 6 months, probably only every couple of years at most. In between could be taken care of with something more filler-heavy to hide any small marks as opposed to buffing them out altogether.

£2k! That is funny.

That is the equivalent of having two front end resprays, with change to spare!

I've had the Gtech Ceramic coating on my TT. Looks amazing and as long as you use the Gtech shampoo it will last for years.

Adam at Finest Detail www.finestdetail.co.uk up in Yorkshire did. Fantastic product and is one of the few that is authorised and approved by the aviation industry ( planes and helicopters ) due to its anti-static properties so must be good.

You get a 50% percent discount if you quote PH2015... only joking. Amazing service and end result.

this thread is getting a bit too close to one of those sad mega OCD detailing threads.

brush made of virgin unicorn pubes
water from an antarctic iceberg
and dried with the farts from a thousand angels

Never wash your car again... the title is just incorrect. It's not even click bait, because click bait just misrepresents the facts, e.g. horrifying scenes of a SINGLE MOM being PUNCHED by 7ft cop - failing to reference in the title that she had tried to shoot him and is a wanted felon for the murders of 6 people. This is just totally made up and totally irrelevant in or out of the context of the story. The product/service is about car polishing, not washing. So a fail for trying to create click bait and a fail for failing to actually create click bait.

Very expensive snake oil.

This whole "detailing" thing is getting out of hand.

It's just doing a good job of polishing the paint, and, hopefully, cleaning the inside and engine bay.

All this stuff.... a fool and his money, etc

So you blatantly lie in order just to get people to read your article.

Couldn't you have put never wax/polish again. Or plenty of other things.
Perhaps "Tired of polishing your machine? Want to know what an expert hand feels like?" wink

I can't understand why you'd do this.

Surely it's better to have it properly detailed every once in a while (say twice a year at £300 a pop) and then wash it as normal instead of spending £2k+ on, what is in reality, an extra layer of clear coat?
Surely the layer of paint on your car isn't infinite and when you start polishing it twice a year you'll end up with bare metal poking out sooner than later?
How much would it cost to have another clear coat put on?

A few years ago main dealers used to offer 'lifeshine' or whatever it's called. I've noticed since then a lot of companies offer a similar product but the prices for it have been going up and up. I wonder how much profit is in that 2k?
