Didn't the Mustang had something like that in the mid-sixties?
Rather than make two utterly useless front facing seats, it provides one, but with enough room for legs as well (unlike most Audi coupes). Not so hot in a crash me thinks...Didn't the Mustang had something like that in the mid-sixties?

The Cougar and Thunderbird had flashing sequential lights. Don't think the Mustang ever had them.
Ah, fine. I knew it was some 60's Ford model but wasn't sure which one so the Mustang made sense. Just to show it's nothing new or revolutionary, although Audi marketing still try to make believe it's all the rage jamespink said:

Well.. once A friend was sitting sideways like that in the back of a Aston Martin DB7 convertible and me in the passenger seat, the outdated suspension setup from a XJS in combination with a modern turbo engine put us somewhere in a ditch.Counting who got the most bruises and cuts, driver got most, then passenger seat, and sideways facing rear passenger practically unharmed!
The comment about the DB7's XJ-S suspension and (supercharged) 6 cylinder engine resulting in an unexpected excursion into a ditch is one I am wholly familiar with. I was a passenger in one (auto FHC) when exactly the same thing happened: we weren't even going all that quickly, but it's the closest I've ever been to meeting my maker so far. It ended up 6ft down the ditch and on it's side: had it caught fire, we'd have been cremated in full view of my brother and girlfriend (now wife), who were following in the car behind.
