Horrible looking thing. Rear end from a poverty spec Insignia and the front end is just a horrible melted mess. .
Wow...casual racism finding its way back on to the forums....
I am Asian and i will be purchasing mine in the brilliant blue with the titanium grey wheels...is that shocking for you?

In other news, non racism related, the Merc model configurator is suggesting that this comes with the sports exhaust as standard unlike the saloon and estate.
I'd be very surprised if more than a few people hadn't reported that post for offensive content. Really not called for.
Whilst I do not approve of any form of racism (when it's intended as such), I'm not sure I read that as a 'racist' remark?

Is it wrong to state/comment if a particular ethnic group buys a particular kind of car?

I like that a lot, but I'd have a hell of a job choosing one over the new CTS-V (not having driven either yet).

clap (As much for the tasteful colour combo as for the calling out of racism where it doesn't belong! I like a nice blue performance Merc.) smile

I'm struggling to see which part of "the Asian's will buy them in their thousands, in white with a black roof and black wheels" is either racist or offensive. confusedconfused

In fact I'd like you both to point out which specific part(s) you think are racist and offensive please as clearly neither of you know the meaning of either word.

Fits the stereotype? Yes very much so. Racist? No.

FWIW I don't think it was racist, but it clearly offended someone that is Asian.

I think I much prefer the looks of this one to the last but will have to wait until I see it in person. Hopefully this model isn't as popular with the barry brigade as the last one was, ruined the car in my eyes.

I prefer the previous one (W204) in both saloon and coupe guise. I've seen a few of the W205 saloons in the flesh and they are a bit meh. Would love a W204 saloon as my next car but the barry boy factor is off putting, especially since I'm Asian....

I drive a modern Mercedes - it's "OK".

Would sticking a huge engine in it and increasing the price by £25k turn it into a great car? I very much doubt it.
The difference in driving a non-AMG car and an AMG is £25k and it does turn it into a great car.

I previously owned a C63 which WAS liking driving a different car compared to my previous C350 in nearly every way except appearance.

Is it sexist to say women like little french convertibles? Or ageist to say teenagers like hatchbacks? Or racist to say old white men like expensive sports cars, even though they look daft driving them?

Nothing derogatory was said, in fact if certain ethnic groups aspire to own premium vehicles, and are associated with them, isn't that a compliment?

Anyway, back on topic...

The new one looks nice, but IMO it is a step down from the previous model. It was/is such a well proportioned, handsome car. smile

£40,000 is still best spent in this sector on a 2008-ish sports car with 505 bhp/485 lbft and just 1450 kgs to lug about! Yep, lighter than a Ford Focus RS but with the power of a BMW V10 M6.
Corvette Z06.

If only they could resist painting it white or having those horrible black wheels it could be a good looking car!

Please tell us all - which Renault Laguna coupe performs as well as the AMG? Take as long as you need, we'll all wait.

I thought it was the new Calibra! It does look very insignia from the back but I'm sure that they'll sell well. I'm still keener on the 4door C63. If Mercedes were to do a crazy lease deal I'd be very tempted

If you are struggling to understand which part of your comment could have caused offense, it would be a waste of my time to point this out to you.

confused Well quite obviously yes.

But as above, if you need it explaining, it's probably not worth explaining. This place is thoroughly saturated by boorish, bigoted, right wing relics. It's thoroughly unpleasant at times. I've all but given up reading most threads due to the inevitable content.

Quite, AMG do more than just stick a bigger lump in the engine bay.
