That 911 Turbo is some motor, there are not many road cars that can beat the GT-R off the line, but that 911 kicked it ass, and did not give any warning lights after launch control start.

Once again we see that the Porsche ponies pull harder, Nissan quotes the GTR as being nearly 1/2 second quicker than the 991 to 62, but they're a modest bunch in Stuttgart.

Hellcat is a hairy car and looks lots of fun...

What he said! We're learning all the time with PHTV but speeds and times should be incorporated. We'll have to do it again, right?

Matt
Come on everyone gives times, EVO drag battles, CH on cars, so do Autocar who you did it with?

Sixty grand difference, if its performance in a straight line, spend ten on the GTR and see what happens.

Or get a 2nd hand 996/7 turbo and take it to 9e but that's not really relevant to the test in the video is it?

If you have ninety grand and want a new car to go faster than a 991 turbo it is.

Both are so quick its irrelevant, been in a 991 turbo and got out wondering what happened.

Of all of them, it's the Hellcat that I'd want. So desirable, so incredibly desirable.

Pointless drag race who didn't know the 2wd car would lose out to the two 4wd cars with launch control, shouldn't the Nissan been put up against the regular 911 Turbo which at 120K is already a very large 50K more let alone the 70k difference between Turbo S & the GT-R.

If I was spending that much more on a Turbo S I'd be wanting a better win than that.

I'd take the Hellcat

Actually I'm not sure why anyone would want launch control in a road car at all.
Indeed.

I have it on mine and have never used it once.

Better traction because of the rear engine placement also helps the 911 a bit... nothing to do with warning lights, but it's an advantage.

Might be a silly question, but, considering the cost difference, why not compare the Nismo?

I'm a huge GTR fan, and I too would like to see some timing data. Just to see if the driver in question was a capable driver.

For all we know, the best driver may have been in the hellcat, just compromised by that vehicles 2wd architecture.

As it is, I'm left very underwhelmed by this piece.

Why would having the engine in the rear improve traction in a 4wd car?

It's fun to watch people arguing about fractions of a second in test conditions which will never be realised \o/

Good to see PH dropping in the S there just to ensure a Porschar win. Tipping the £ scales at 142K basic price with really a significant number of three and four letter acronyms.
More horses and less weight than the box std GT-R. Expecially with the sport+ option dropping the 0-60 time significantly.

After all Porschar make 24 different 911's so getting the right one to use cannot be so difficult. There are 3 GT-R's.....

The Non S Turbo would be the relevant competitor to the base model GT-R

The nearest competitor price wise in the 911 range is a Carrera S which still comes in at 85k, I'm pretty sure the margin would be bigger than the difference between the Turbo S & GT-R in the clip.

The 911 4WD system is rear-biased, unless that's changed. In that case, consider me schooled.
While it's not a huge difference, it might be about just enough to improve off the line traction (comparing with a front-engined car)
