£9k

I reckon it will depreciate a lot less than the cars you mentioned.

If you can live with 2 seats then i agree with the above, they have a reasonable size boot too

Otherwise if its a hot hatch then a MK2 Leon Cupra R, its pretty much the same as the earlier Golf R but cheaper

I don't have anything against the cars you list, they are all fine machines, assuming you need 4/5 seats and a large boot. But they all look like exactly what they are, a fwd hatchback. I just can't connect that upright style and "sporty looking" together.

Surely if you want something "sporty looking" for £10k, then an MX-5, Honda S2000, Lotus Elise or Vauxhall VX220 would be the front runners.
Why does every one of your posts always spout the same old diatribe?

OP asks for thoughts on a hot hatch - you reply with suggestions of a 2 seater sports car

OP asks for an economical diesel family wagon - you suggest a 1960's American V8

OP asks about a fun, reliable weekend toy - you recommend a TR7 with a V8 conversion....

And so it goes on - can't you at least once just offer a useful opinion on the cars in question, offer a similar alternative, or as if you have nothing useful to offer, just say nothing ?

ETA: Just looked through a few of your posts from the last few days and found this gem...

So I currently own a Clio 1.4 ( first car ) I will have only 1 years NCB and am looking for something with a bit of power (150bhp) or more.

I have 6k to spend without insurance/petrol etc.

I am not interested in Corsa/Astra VXR neither an A3.

Must be fairly reliable and good fun.

I was interested in 197 Cups but may be out of my budget, also the car must have done less than 60k miles.
Don't be a sheep, buy something interesting.

Not only will it be tremendous fun, it'll teach you a lot about driving and it'll retain it's value (might even increase). So when you look to purchase car number 3, you'll have an even bigger pot of money.

It's only an opinion. You never know it might make the op reassess their options a bit. Personally I'd rather have a wedge over the shopping trolleys this guy was considering.
When 300bhp went on hiatus I missed these kind of posts.

Yeah but in fairness there are comedy channels for when you want off topic sillyness!

OP maybe you need to think about 2 things as well.
HOW practical does it need to be and HOW much upkeep are you prepared to spend?
I can't for the life of me see someone considering a Leon Cupra choosing a very old TVR instead. Eg. Both great cars, but really not the same!

Sadly I can't insure anything like an Evo or WRX yet!! Or I would have one!

I am going to have a look at some S2000's as they do look good!
S2000s cost much more to insure than a WRX in my experience

Mk1 Focus RS would be near the top of my list.

Absolutely, spot on.

Although some of his old Yank suggestions were as poor as they were ridiculous. hehe

I'd go for the Wedge over a shopping trolley too, really

My suggestion earlier. Ticks lots of boxes. Everyday car, won't lose any value if kept nice, good enough on fuel, decent boot, looks nice and they don't mind another 50 bhp added either.

Avoid the mps unless you have funds put aside for vvt and turbo replacements and engine rebuild.
