Didn't we have a thread several months back about a PHer buying a badly repaired white R8 from a dodgy dealer from North of the Watford Gap? spin

The original thread got canned but I found this...

This thread is absurd and distinctly lacking in any pictures of carnage.

Once the thread was started it was speculated that those responsible were probably of brown complexion.

Fast forward and it turns out they were. Yet the suggestion is that we are all tarred with the same "racist" brush for making this observation.

It's not racist to make a calculated guess at someone's appearance or background based on their actions. If anything, it's an intelligent comprehension of common trends and events.

The people who cry racist - what is the agenda for them? Is it just to make others feel bad, or is it some sort of one-upmanship? It's f*cking annoying is what it is, and I'd suggest they don't really understand what racism actually is.

One up-manship I think is a lot of it.

I'm sorry, it may not be racist, but it really isn't that.

What's the agenda for the people who cry "Muslims" or "Asians"?

Absolutely. Wat is the agenda of those who absolutely needed to highlight race and religion ? Is this an anthropology forum ? Somehow, I doubt it but I could be wrong.

The first step to resolving an issue is admitting it is there in the first place.

In this instance the issue is the culture at Muslim weddings of hiring fast cars to then sub let out to all and sundry to behave like maniacs in. There are at least half a dozen examples cited in this thread through media reports, after 40 years living in and around this community in Birmingham I can tell you this is representative, in my experience, of typical behaviour in those circumstances.

In order to then discuss ways to discourage and even prevent this the discussion needs to acknowledge where the issue lies. Instead the discussion is dragged to a spurious debate on whether or not racism is involved.

What hope do we have of ever engaging with bigger issues related to levels of community integration in any faith and/or ethnic groups in the UK when we can't even talk about a culture of young lads dicking around in rental cars at weddings without the race card being shown?

There is no agenda? It's all about trying to identify the unknown entity in a pattern of events. We knew certain facts, but not all.

You know the board game Cluedo? Have you ever had the misfortune of watching Midsomer Murders?

It's all about freedom of speech.

Nobody suggested it was anything other than somebody's ethnicity. This categorisation is used alongside someones' build / physical size, their age group. It's descriptive of their appearance, not racism!

Please, please get over yourselves.

To cite another example, when the billboards showing a healthy womans' figure being "Beach Ready" were vandalised earlier this year you could have taken a similar guess that she would be a white woman with feminist views. And you'd have been right. You racist scumbag.

Please get over yourself. If it's about freedom of speech (which is not an absolute right in this country incidentally), then I am sure you'll respect my freedom of speech when I say I believe invoking race and religion is borne out of casual racism. Thank you.

You're absolutely fine to have that opinion, but I suggest you direct your dissatisfaction with the way the world is to another thread, since we were originally speculating ethnicity, which is only linked to religion by association. Granted, it later came into it as the natural flow of conversation once it was established that those responsible were probably attending a religious event, so it was entirely relevant to the topic too.

There are plenty of terrible examples of racism out there buddy but this is not one. And trying to search for it in mainstream media with no real agenda just marks you out as a bit of a nutcase.

How come this is ok but making assumptions about other ethnic groups is considered 'racist'?

Can anyone defending the supercar idiots answer?
Still no answer from any of the posters implying racism. So its ok to assume about groups of white ppl but not asians. Interesting.

You asked for responses from those defending supercar idiots.

Now you're asking for responses from those implying racism, as though these are the same group.

That's interesting.

It's basic comprehension of that comment to deduct that he was referencing 'these' supercar idiots which the topic is about.

Of course it's very easy to take something out of context to suit your own agenda, but we are still yet to establish what that agenda is?

Sigh. You apparently don't have an agenda, but I have to? Come on...

I'm well aware that he meant "these" supercar idiots. My point was, those implying racism are not necessarily defending the idiots, and vice versa.

What was that about basic comprehension?

I'm struggling with you here.

We've established (long ago) the ethnicity of the 'supercar idiots', so any discussion in this topic is going to be about both subjects.

I don't think St John Smythe even identified that there were two groups, your post is what takes everything out of context, nobody is defending this group of idiots based on their actions, but some are defending their ethnicity be brought into a discussion when it clearly is a factor. Discussing it is not racist (for the 4th time).

Your question in the first post I quoted has no point. So what is your point? You even played on the 'interesting' part of St John Smythe's post, as though to mock him, but it was nonsensical and without logic.

These kind of knee jerk reactions pretty much sum up the problem so thanks for the excellent example post highlighting this.

Forget the ethnicity, it is all about young males with too much money come by too easily, usually to know how to behave. They are still nasty plebs; the same applies to a sizeable minority of premier league footballers, but there don't seem to be many Asian players there.

And what about the arrogant white upper class ***** who buy up seaside cottages, destroying communities, clogging up narrow lanes with their Range Rovers and Q7s and blocking them with selfish parking, and whining that the village stores isn't Waitrose so eventually it closes down. At least most people only get married once.

Unfortunately that's no longer correct. Although I'm not sure "the foreigners" can be blamed for that particular issue.

It amuses me immensely that the BBC bends over backwards to be "gender neutral" and "multi-cultural" yet somehow all of its female presenters turn out to be young-looking and attractive.

But the disproportionate use of section 60 powers on black youths, combined with a low arrest rate, has led to accusations ....
When the cops fishing expeditions become less and less successful they'll move onto the next most statistically significant group. Times change, or do you think that they're still feeling up people with Russian accents as they could be KGB spies?
