The undertones that I perceived were the fact that despite there being no mention of race in the article and the important thing being that the incident occurred, some people thought it was necessary, helpful or useful to discuss the possible race of the people involved.
I simply felt that the fact that those posters thought that this was pertinent and important suggested to me that those posters had some kind of prejudice or preoccupation with race (otherwise it wouldn't have seemed relevant to them to discuss it).
I couldn't agree with you more - this was my immediate perception - but now we have to be careful not to offend the anti-PC group who may think we see xenophobia everywhere.

Most others go to a strip club or abroad for a holiday instead of hiring a supercar and ragging it around a city centre with the hazard lights on thinking that traffic laws can't be applied to them for some reason.

Normally Manchester Bolton Birmingham Southall Wembley -
Seen this a few times in the latter two locations.....

As an asian supercar owner, i now feel compelled to drive like a bellend everywhere to ensure i keep up the stereotype of my kinsfolk.

Best make sure im in the right car when i do that and not my mondeo in case i cross the line into asian minicab driver territory!
I think the difference is "Owner" rather than anything racial.

Young white lads in a group in fast rented cars would behave like dicks, they just dont rent them as they spend all the money on beer and strippers instead or take their business offshore.

I cant imagine how much renting a Lambo costs for a night and what the paperwork looks like, I suspect it is a complex affair !

hehe Although you don't have to conform to the stereotype. For example, I drive a BMW but I also use my indicators wink

It's not like me to be or seem professionally offended on the behalf of others. I shouldn't have got involved.
You have made the point very clearly. The same issue often arises in the context of police "stop and search" powers,

"In January 2012, Metropolitan Police commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe announced new limits on the issuing of Section 60 stop and search orders. Officers have traditionally defended their right to use the approach as a tactic, which they say helps target drug and knife crime.
But the disproportionate use of section 60 powers on black youths, combined with a low arrest rate, has led to accusations of racial profiling."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24902389

The fact that UK prisons contain a disproportionately high ratio of black and Asian people does not justify either,
  • an assumption that a black or Asian person is likely to be a criminal, or
  • an assumption that a crime must have been committed by a black or Asian person.

Some people are a bit thick.

Observation tells us that a Toyota Avensis probably has an Asian minicab driver inside, a chavved up ageing hatchback a young white male, an Audi Q7 a white mother, etc.

And a stag do with supercars, Pakistani males.

Now we would have a go at the Audi Q7 driver, when she tries to run someone down with her car http://www.surreycomet.co.uk/news/13837908.Guilty_...

probably making note of her choice of car, children, etc.

And we do the same here.

And for the record, yes, these were British Asian Muslims. A few minutes scratching around Facebook confirms this.

There seems to be the actual issue at hand in any debate like this and then those using it a springboard to launch into how much they hate <insert minority here> and at the other end there are those wanting to claim the moral high ground and put people in their place regardless of whether there was any racist intent in what they were saying.

My wife goes mental if I or the kids do any accents that are not white, I have been in trouble for a poor Welsh accent once as she swore blind it was Pakistani I was doing, why would Welsh be ok if Pakistani isnt, they do British accents on "Goodness Gracious Me" and every American who does a British Accent turns into Dick Van Dyke, am I offended, no I am not, I think if we shared a bit more humour then we would perhaps integrate better.

Purely mentioning "Asians" does not immediately mean you are being racist, in this case, regardless of ethnic origin, its overexcited young male showoffs in rented fast cars making a nuisance of themselves.
That's OK, the similarity has been noted by the Pakistanis, the Indians, and we Welsh. smile

Am not sure if allowed to do the one about not being able to say "Beer Can" without sounding like a Jamaican saying Bacon either.

Surely it matters who the perpetrators are and what their demographic is? If a pattern starts to emerge isn't this how the Police target particular offenders and try to reduce the frequency of the crime by ensuring it doesn't happen in the first place either through intelligence or education?

Would it be in poor form to have a guess at the ethnicity of the people involved?
Why would it matter? So we can make sweeping generalisations about a race of people?
But "we" wouldn't be making sweeping generalisations about a race of people.
We'd be making sweeping generalisations about people who hire supercars [and drive like tcensoredts]

ie not: all people of type X hire supercars and crash them
but: all people who hire supercars and drive like tcensoredts are of type X

I've experienced something similar after the Epsom Races this year when 3 bell ends in an RS4, C63 and an S5 decided to full bore race down a busy residential road with sharp bends and a 20 limit. They were overtaking people on the wrong side of the road right on the bends and I've now idea how someone wasn't seriously hurt. Just luck really.

The road is the one just after Romans that links the A217 to Banstead High Street for anyone who knows the area.

Utter tools.

No - because it is extremely prevalent with a certain ethnic group to hire supercars, act like they are above the law, drive like bellends, put lives at risk - all in the name of a wedding.

Maturity seems to be optional to them.
But why would their ethnicity matter?

I am sure I have seen other ethnic groups drive like idiots in congested areas too.
Because I know of no other ethnic minority who do this for a wedding.

Had this on the wedding day. Sound of several cars such as Nissan GTR being ragged around the neighbourhood for a while, horns constantly being used. At 9am. On a Sunday.
They all ended up at the wedding venue and sat in the car park doing the same for ages.

I went to the security gate and the organiser for the day was called.
I asked her to tell them to refrain on the way out otherwise police would be called.
We ended up arguing because she kept saying, I can tell them here, but I can't control them out there (once off the school's property)
- No, I'm asking you to tell them not to do it or I'll call the police.
- But I can't control them out there.
- I am not asking you to control them, I'm asking you to tell them not do do it otherwise I'll call the police
- but once they are off the property I can't control them.
- Yes, now please listen again, I know you can't control them but you can tell them....repeat ad infinitum
