I suppose it won't be pointless if someone else sees it and decides to NOT do the same thing.

Hats off to the families that decided to allow the police to post this, in the midst of their grief.

Horrible. Total waste.

It's the sort of footage that should be part of a learner's education to be honest. Use it for something good.

Cretins of the highest order. No loss to society.

At least they didn't kill someone innocent in the process and thankfully we're not spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on keeping them alive or in prison.

Tragic. I feel for the parents, but at least they didn't kill anyone else.

Just had a little chuckle at ' Beavis and Butt-Head' .
It is tragic, a tragic waste of police and health services time and resources.
Got to feel it for the family though, and good on them for showing the video.

As a parent, losing a child, no matter what age or how stupid they've been is a very sobering, completely life changing experience.

Regardless of how it happened, it's the parents who have to live with the loss for the rest of their lives.

I struggle to find it funny or humorous to be honest.

Would it be in poor form to have a guess at the ethnicity of the two lads involved?

Watching that made me feel utterly sick. It's not even the stupidity of it, or the waste of life, it's the total lack of awareness of their own incompetence behind the wheel and the bravado with which they behave. It's almost voyeuristic in 'yeah, but we know what's going to happen'..gross.

I've been reading comments about this on facebook all day, getting angry over the people sticking up for the two boys.

So glad to come on PH and see some common sense on the matter.

How different their sympathetic comments would be if the cretins took out a family on the pavement.

Yes it would because there's a video and photos.

The saddest loss here is the 172 they were driving.

OK, don't quite mean that, but I can't say I've ever considered something so silly nor will I.

Was it a 172 though? It doesn't look very fast? Looks more like a shopping model being driven as fast as it'll go.

Agreed, no red line on the Rev counter and it looked and sounded like it was going as fast as it could go and was struggling to reach 90. Probably the 1.2 8v engine.
