So this is why 2 weeks ago I wasnt allowed on the V12 production line at Ferrari. They've done a fabulous job. It looks stunning!

Why call it TDf though?

The 250 TDF was named after the race, this has nothing to do with that race.

Just a marketing thing....again. It'll sell like hot cakes.

What next an F12 'Daytona'?
I think it's purely because they didn't want to use the GTO moniker so quickly...there have only been three in forty plus years so to use it again rather ruins the exclusivity of it!
And it's kind of consistent with the V8 cars wherre we've have Scuderia, Speciale etc.

5% increase in power
6% less weight
not massively impressive tbh
nice downforce increase though
The gearbox is 6% shorter geared as well. And the front tyres are now up to 275 width to make it less understeery. I'm guessing not too many people on here given a test drive would say "it's a bit pants to be honest"

It had 730bhp and now has more. They chucked out 100kg. They made the gearing 6% shorter and gave it fatter tyres. You're not impressed because you drive a Saturn V to work each morning.

I think when they road test it there will be a lot of journo's guffing with praise.

Turbo diesel sprang to mind when I first glanced at it. But the Tour de France was a motor race similar in format to the Targa races first held in 1899 and finally banned in 1986.

780bhp and a 8900rpm redline! eek Those stats sound like a wet dream to me. Is this the best NA engine ever made? If the next Ferrari V12 is turbocharged, which it inevitably will be, then this is probably the pinnacle of the Internal Combustion Engine for me.

Looks naff. The Corvette resemblance is far too strong. But that's my opinion and I don't think I'm the F12 marketing departments target audience, so I doubt they give a knats chuff.

I think Ferrari have said their V12s will be hybrid, al a LaFerrari - it could be worse as technically they're still N/A...

Hybrids I can live with, I think they are a better technical solution to the problem of meeting emissions targets then the somewhat lazy method of "downsize and chuck a small turbo or two on it" that everyone else is doing.

No doubt functional, but also inspired by the 275 GTB/C

Beautiful would have preferred a different name such as F12 Berlinetta Competzione... F12/C

A fair improvement over the 'old' Berlinetta.
I extrapolated the only 2 performance figures given to get the other figures below.

Also see how both model compare here: https://youtu.be/4FEI6W0T9AM

Small niggle - the standard car has 730bhp .... theres a 40bhp difference between the two. But then subtract 110kgs (1415Kg for the TDF), rear wheel steer, wider front tyres, 87% more downforce, 6% shorter gears (hence the top speeds being the same). I think this thing will be a bit of a monster on the road/track.

It looks like an animal, I love it and makes the 'normal' f12 look mundane by comparison - some will believe it loses its elegance mind you.

Question is what colour would you go for if you had the money and were given a slot?

Blu Electrico, Tour De France Blu, Bianco Fuji, Rosso Fuoco or Grigio Silverstone would be the colours Id personally opt for!

Those who buy probably give that very little thought, even over here.

Glad, in a sense, to see that I was beaten to the C7 Stingray thing. Not that far away in the obvious stuff either.

I'm sure it is wonderful to drive and that Ferrari couldn't give two shakes of a monkey's tail about my opinion, but not where my that kind of money would go.

Its less of an issue to have no front plate... than to have a illegally 'short' numberplate (e.g. incorrect dimensions/spacing/size) at least with lack of front plate you can say it fell off and just pay the fine...

Which is obviously a total bummer & life changer if you've just spent your last 300k or so on one hehe.

The name Tdf comes from this:

The Tour de France Auto in September, a six-day rally of hill climbs, drag races, and circuit competitions. In the late fifties Ferrari basically "owned" this race with the 250 Berlinettas.
There was me thinking it meant "to die for".

Indeed, another favourite engine of mine. In fact I'm not massively keen on the looks of the LFA but I could live with it for that engine alone.
