hopefully that'll be around £20k by the end of the lease and another 5000 miles - might be tempted to buy if it's anywhere near there....
Is it financed by VW? I don't think they'll sell to the person leasing. I looked at buying a Golf my brother had on lease and the price they asked was about the same as they'd retail for on a VW forecourt.

I wish this was true, second hand values seem ridiculously high - looking at manufacturer approved sites there are often 2 year old cars for similar price to discounted new ones.

Frustrating enough to get me looking at this thread for an alternative but it never seems to include the 5 Series.
A few months back I got a very good 5 series deal from Elite Vehicle Contracts in Shrewsbury. Something like £330/mth, 3x23. PCH, 8k miles. Very friendly people as well. It might be worth giving them a call.

I think this is mainly a ruse to push new car sales (or lease, PCP etc)....."yes, you could buy a used one, but we can do you a similar deal on brand new". I suspect they don't expect to sell their nearly new used stock, and after a while sell to trade or massively discount when a buyer is on the forecourt, without ever dropping the sticker price - this approach seems the case for BMW in particular!

Got a quote and credit check for the 370z, by the time I was ready to order - out of stock.

Then the same thing with the Golf R & GTI...

But I can do a factory order instead if I like.... But it's more expensive.

No thanks.
This seems to be the modus for them. I've had it so many times now! Last week I had the line "this price is for standard cars only", adding options was going to bump the base price even before the options were added!

So much on their site is not available, I have struck them off the list of people I even look at now.

Yep original estimate was mid June
Cheers mate, and if you don't mind me asking, when did you place your order and what's the order date on YourAudi?

I gave my order in November but it looks like the dealer didn't place my order until 2 weeks ago. I'm fearing if your order was actually placed much earlier than mine then my new eta of June is looking unlikely.

They won't sell to the name on the lease but you can 'offer it to a friend'

So I'm only a couple of weeks away from taking delivery of an A4 and the supplying dealer wants me to post original copies of both parts of my driving license to him 'for the finance'.

Seems odd to me to have to post them rather than just provide a scan.

BTW, I can't hand-deliver them as the dealer is in York and I live near London.

Anyone else had this?

Hi, this is normal practice to prevent fraud. Most finance companies standard terms insist that original driving license is seen by the supplying dealership.

We request all our customers send their driving via special delivery and we return via special delivery or with the vehicle depending on the customer's request.

Bit strange that they are asking to see both parts as the counterpart is no longer valid in the UK.

Ok thanks David, that's reassuring. I'll check if they definitely need both parts - I might've just assumed that myself!

Does anyone trust posting their driving licence or passport?
There may be a scammer at a dealer (unbeknown to them) looking for ID they can use.
The trouble with security is deciding where is the greater risk.

The chances of there being a scammer at a dealer are minor!

Licences are needed to check its not fake ID as fraud is high.

I'm sure licences need to be posted for mortgage don't they, and in essence car finance is the same thing.

We have just been offered the chance to lease cars through our company as part of the 'Flexible benefits' with lex.

The pricing is hilarious and costs more to lease a car than pay our mortgage. Ok it covers all maintenance, insurance for you and 4 additional drivers but still on a Golf 1.4 TSI 150 it would be £530 a month over 4 years, 16k per year. That 24K and no car at the end of it. Bargain!

If anybody takes up the offer they must be mad!

I refused to post mine to get my R as i had a family holiday planned where i needed to rent a car, and they'd already managed to lose my brothers license despite having sent it special delivery.

I arranged to go to a more local dealer within the same group (Toyota Inchcape in Kidlington vs VW Inchcape in Telford).

That's so expensive it seems wrong. NHS have a similar scheme and if you're a "buy new and change every 3yrs" person it's practically a no-brainer to take the car.

Bear in mind that if that £530 is taken from your gross salary it might affect your pension.

Yes, my wife was offered something similar. I am sure hers was through Lex also and equally laughable. Sadly, several of her workmates are using the scheme. She has taken the cash option, contract hired a decent car and has money left over.
