Sorry guys, not a deal but figured someone on this thread would have an answer.

I ordered a Golf R this week and I really wish I added app-connect as an option. Are lease companies generally flexible when it comes to adding options shortly after the contract is signed? There is no order number yet and the guy I was dealing with is off on leave so need to wait until next week before I make the request.
i think app-connect is just software? - it can be activated once you have the car direct at a dealers if you pay the money...

please someone confirm...
Unfortunately for the Golf R it seems it's not retrofit-able due to the head unit which is used (differs from GTD and GTI models) so needs to be factory spec'd

I got no more joy from my local dealer - not even a callback.

I've got the local VW dealer working on a price for the Golf R and if he can't beat it today I'll be straight onto Horizon as it seems like a solid deal - just wish the 19" alloys didn't add £40 odd a month!

Know what you mean! Currently got a Golf R at 207 a month with met paint (18's though) and am looking at another. From Select with Lapis and 19s for 5 dr DSG it was coming out 315 a month with 2800 down inc maintenance. Just too much. Let me know how you get on!!!
Please keep me updated too. I want that exact spec on an R.
VW came back at £325 on 6+23 but could only do £375 on 3+23. They can get me a car next month though if that helps but I'm actually not that bothered about the lead time as I will have to sell my car.

Told Horizon to go ahead and now it seems the 5 door adds more than they thought and Lapiz is 'special' so the price is now £352 3+23 (was £325). Asked for 3dr price and he will come back to me tomorrow.

In other news, still no call backs from any BMW dealers about my enquiries!

Phil

3 door DSG in Lapiz Blue 3+23 10k miles is £344, 5 door is £352. This would suggest they are charging around £30/month for Lapiz which a quick bit of mental arithmetic suggests is more than the total cost of the option over the term!

I've told them to order me a Limestone Grey one instead which should be £315 for a 3 door but I'll take the 5 door if it's only £10/month more.

Will confirm when I have final figures.

Then the emissions news hit. And I guess those discounts, which have been around for a couple of years on Tiguan, started to feed through. WBAC values on 3yr old cars now is around £12K but I don't know how realistic even that is - looking at Tiguan forums owners are getting horrible p/x valuations. Yet the muppets are still ordering the new one, often throwing £K's options at them.
And that's the rub with PCP; the risk is all with you for the possibility of a slight uplift in the money you have in the car? The days of automatically being able to accrue capital every time you changed a car on PCP seem to be long gone.

In today's market, unless PCP is head and shoulders above an equivalent lease (and this almost never seems to be the case) then I'd go lease every time.

Sadly though leasing encourages people to sacrifice options which will lead to the forums in a few years being cluttered up with posts about there being no 2nd hand Golf Rs with sat nav or whatever the must have option of the era is.

Been thinking about an i3 for a while, keeping the C63 but using the savings in petrol to cover the cost of the i3 (man maths...)

Just seen this... https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

£168.30 Per Month, INC VAT
Deposit:£1,514.70
Term:24 Months
Mileage:8k Miles p/a

£231.41 per month, seems like a bargain to me but i'm now looking at changing jobs (20 miles a day to 120 miles a day) so will have to give it a miss again!

Make sure you base your depreciation estimates on trade-in values rather than forecourt price, because a £30K car with no warranty left isn't going to be easy to sell privately. https://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/part-exchange.htm...

Cupra 290 Estate for £204 per month inc VAT 8k pa - isn't that quite good for a fast practical estate?

Contract Length:24 months
Contract Mileage:8000
Maintenance: No
MRP:£25,008 on the road
Free Delivery (UK mainland only)
Rental profile:
Initial rental of £2000.00 plus vat followed by 23 monthly rentals of £169.99 plus vat

That's not bad. They were around this price a few months ago but then disappeared? Do you know the excess mile fee as for 10k the price is double!

mate of mine has been banging on about a PCP deal on a Kia Sportage something like £1500 deposit and then £170 a month 10k miles... i mean sounds ok cheap enough but i can't help but think it would be a) cheaper on a lease and b) there are far better cars available for barely any more money. What say you collective? I think it needs to be big booted, but that's about it.
See the stonking Yeti deals. This one's gone up a few hundred, but still a bargain for a range-topper.
https://www.selectcarleasing.co.uk/car-leasing/sko...
i showed him that as I'd remembered they were all over this thread. He just scoffed, not really sure why.

I did point out to him that his missus probs doesn't give a st about all the standard toys on the Kia and that a PCP is not inherently better than a lease (he was going on about owning it being better or something). I did concede that if it's going to be a children wagon then maybe this logic isn't entirely faulty, but might be for different reasons. They could clear the finance and just keep it, as it's going to be fking ruined by the time the contract ends!

Not a lease (I was buying) and was either Cupra 290 or Golf R (Cupra with options 25k from broker and R was 27.5k). Wanted the Cupra based on fun factor and looks, but the golf based on residuals. Test drove both and the rarity of the cupra on the road and the lifelessness of the R pushed me to go Cupra. It's not all about money.

Watch me eat my words when it comes trade-in time with the Cupra laugh

Wouldn't this be due to the R being more composed due to the 4 motion? I have a Golf R and yes I agree that it can be quite bland, however with DSG in sports mode without traction control it is pretty awesome around some twisty roads. In my opinion, the Cupra is 'rare' because it's inferior and too closely priced to cars like the golf.

I think that's a fantastic deal.

Ah, didn't spot 2k deposit, bit steep but par for the course I suppose. I'll backtrack to decent deal.

Hot hatches are meant to be a bit of a handful, 4WD just seemed boring to me. Even though it's not 'real' 4WD in the R. I agree, the Cupra is a lesser badge and is quite close to the golf price wise. But same chassis, adaptive suspension etc as standard, near identical interior parts and far better looks (subjective obviously). I think the rear lights really put me off the golf. They're like halfords aftermarket LED lights, like the DRL's of a DS3.
