£2138.12 minus the contribution of £1502.78 = £635.34
You pay the 635.34 (or .37) and the contribution pays the other part of the deposit.
Yes, I understand the maths but it's the part about me paying 2138.12 upfront and then, according to the broker's email, VW will pay me back 1502.78. You pay the 635.34 (or .37) and the contribution pays the other part of the deposit.
The VW paperwork makes no mention of the money back though.
Doesn't sound right to me and it's certainly not the terms I agreed to when discussing the deal with the broker. I'm not that worried about paying it as long as I'll definitely get the money back but it seems like the terms I agreed verbally have changed.
What do you guys reckon? Would you proceed or does this larger upfront payment sound wrong?

I did this with CVL on my M135i deal, paid deposit of about £1900 then got £300 back a few weeks later. I wouldn't have an issue doing it again. The VW paperwork makes no mention of the money back though.

The money doesn't come from VWFS that's why they don't mention it. It comes from the dealer/agent's margin, hence why it's a cheque a few weeks after the deal has been processed. The VW paperwork makes no mention of the money back though.

I've done it this way before, no biggie. In my case they did it to match an online deal. Gave me the same overall cost but meant that the dealer was local to me for collection, any aftersales etc.

I agree, no one want's to clog up this page with the same information.
My details were posted on here for people to contact me directly, to avoid such issues.
Might be an idea to put those contact details in your forum profile, Paul. My details were posted on here for people to contact me directly, to avoid such issues.

So all the cheap Polos have gone?
What awas the deal out of interest? And I agree, bit strange to have a best lease deal available thread if you are only allowed to post deals from one company.....Deal was 6 +23 8000 miles £135ish
It's a lot of fun car for the money - but the fact I missed out is not the end of the world - I just don't think I'm young enough to be driving a Polo!

i think we've been round the 'brokers posting in here' thing before, and I don't want to end up in the same place. I trust other PHers who have an interest in taking out a lease to find really excellent deals and share them up. If a broker comes here only with the best deals which are on a par with those being posted, then great. I didn't see what was being posted, but if it's just a copy and paste special offers page from their website then I'd sooner it stayed there. If their deals are that great then they'd end up on here anyway, just posted by one of us?

Agree with this, if a deal is posted and a broker comes on here and says they can beat it or match it then fair enough, but they don't need to list 10 average deals 4737 Carlin said:
I've had the finance paperwork through, via email, for the Tiguan I've agreed to hire.
Before I agreed to hire this car I was quoted 3*23 at £211.79 - so that's a £635.37 initial payment.
But ...
Mine is the same principle albeit with a smaller deposit and smaller contribution but works out pretty much the same over the term, give or take £50.Before I agreed to hire this car I was quoted 3*23 at £211.79 - so that's a £635.37 initial payment.

INITIAL PAYMENT
The Initial Rental in full which will be taken by Direct Debit approximately 10-14 days after delivery will be £2138.12 Inc Vat
Inchcape Volkswagen Telford is contributing £1502.78 towards your Initial Rental. This is paid to you approximately 10-14 days after the date of delivery.
Is that normal? Seems like another thing that might turn into a ballsache. The Initial Rental in full which will be taken by Direct Debit approximately 10-14 days after delivery will be £2138.12 Inc Vat

I assumed the cash back will be granted at the same time as the deposit payment so that they don't have to hold my money for any length of time but it's my local dealer and they've confirmed in writing so I am kind of confident. If not, I'll probably do that with THEIR car : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aELcOp_5ADA

Any decent golf r deals on? Cant find anything decent
Carleasing-online seems to be the best around at the moment with a 9+23 for a manual 5dr at £234 p/m inc VAT. That's only on 5k miles per year though. Not sure of excess mileage rates.http://www.carleasing-online.co.uk/volkswagen-golf...
any decent exec car estate deals atm? Coming to the end of a cls 350 shooting brake and dealer cant match it by a long way (had a big merc contribution at the time). Audi A6 avant, 5 series 530+ etc. Can find reasonable deals for 4 cylinder but very thin on 6 cylinder deals (ie 3+23, under 400 ex vat, 10-15k miles)

Apologies for off topic, but how was your shooting brake? It really appeals to me - estate with style - but at the moment is out of budget. Can you fit 3 kids in the back of one comfortably?Edited by Emeye on Monday 30th November 15:57
