Perhaps the traffic was already at a standstill and they'd got out to play hangman or compare shopping lists? Amazing what people do when they know they can't use their mobile. But they are clearly alert and intelligent drivers - they knew L3 would be the slowest lane. That's why they are always in it and have such fear of ever leaving it. I just wonder how they cope with life in general
