A honda pwner friend of mine once told me that a VTEC engine is barely broken in at 100k miles! I myst admit these engines are bulletproof, Honda's only down side is rusty arches.

If it was my money I would go for a esrly S2000 - 240ho and redline at 9000rpm wow

Honda has done over 100k so knackered. New Audi would run rings round it.
Just run in, had one four 14 years ran it daily and never used any oil between services, that v-tec was so addictive sad to see it go.

I'm almost certain that the man who was tasked with designing the DC5's appearance had previously worked for 'Pininfarina' where he penned the lines for the Ferrari 360.

The S2K doesn't hold a candle to the DC2 as a drivers car. It has the advantage of being a soft top but thats about it.

S157FTO where are you now.....
Hi Jatinder - I kept S157FTO for just over two years (it was my 2nd DC2) and sold it to another enthusiast back in March of this year. It was refreshed with new Honda shocks, new calipers, new rad, CL RC5+ pads, Yoko AD08s, etc and it was damn good on both track and road.

BUT

they are now getting on and there's a limited market for 15+ year old Japanese cars. I replaced it with a new Subaru BRZ and haven't looked back.
Glad it went to a good home!

Such a good car overall.

I had a 98-spec import for nearly 3 years, that's the longest I've had any of my recent cars, which is a miracle for me the way I go through the things.

Very special machines. Very capable IMO even by modern standards. 0-60 in the low-6s, 146 mph top speed, and revved to 9,000 rpm, and to me the B-series engines sound better than the K20 even if the K20 is otherwise a more capable engine. Wonderful gear change, very balanced handling (the least FWD-feeling FWD car I've driven by a huge margin). Probably a little slower overall in a straight line than a K20 CTR but feels faster. There wasn't much that could get away from it on runs out with other cars.

Pretty much one of the only FWD cars I'd bother buying nowadays. My current FN2 is a nice car and clearly retains the DNA but isn't quite as sharp, visceral or fun.

How did I miss this thread?!

Without a doubt the best car I've ever owned. I absolutely love mine.

Nothing quite drives the same, the civics of the same era just lack something in comparison. (yes, including the EK9).

I think it will be a very long time before mine goes anywhere

Mine is pretty modified now though which will upset some of the purists, but hey, it is in my opinion the ultimate DC2.

Some might argue (like it matters) that you've "removed value" by swapping in the K20a (unspecified internet straw men, lol) but I reckon a well-done and well-kept K20 swap will hold it's value, too.

Good to see so many DC2 fans on here. A few people still interested but at this stage looks like I'm clinging on to mine. I might have to sell something else to justify it thought.

Does anyone want to buy a lightly used 4 month old? He is as-delivered, other than being slightly larger and noisier, but has a fully documented history from new.

I stopped caring about value a long time ago, but a K20a DC2 is easily worth £7k in todays market smile

I have owned two DC2's and two DC5's all standard (apart from a Kakimoto exhaust on current DC5). The two DC2's were on 50k miles and 121k miles respectively and I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I were blindfolded. They drove, pulled, sounded and performed exactly the same, brilliant engineering.

I miss the DC2 for it's rawness and the bonkers-factor of VTEC, but the DC5 is a much better all-round performer. There is a lot more accessible power low down which makes it pleasant to drive in traffic or when you just want to pootle along as well as opening it up, wheras the DC2 never really comes alive until you hit VTEC. Be nice to have both really smiledriving

I found similar going from my DC2 to my current Accord Type R. Even with the ATR's relatively tiny amounts of torque it feels like a MASSIVE step up from the DC2, which like you say only comes alive on VTEC. The ATR manages to do a much better impression of being a vaguely competent daily driver in this regard, whilst still retaining 95% of the Integra's character/ability.

Interestingly however, the DC2 was overall the more 'practical' car for me due to the big rear hatch & folding rear seats- sadly missing from the ATR, and I would also argue that the ATR has slightly better steering feel (if that is quantifiable) than the DC2...

I've never driven a DC5 but it's definitely on the 'must-drive' list.

I had a dc2 a few years back and loved it. Pulled like a train and it just got faster as the mileage increased. Took it to about 120k with no issues whatsoever.

it was a bit of apain on motorways, revving very high at 70mph, but otherwise just brilliant.

It also worked very well in the snow! The LSD just pulled it through everything and never got stuck.

So I was the seller of this car and coming back to this. Have done the enforced cull on the car collection, even letting the TVR Griff and R32 go when the wife's business was going well (which ironically means absorbing all our money) and being left to public transport.

However, predictably for someone who has owned 5 Integras I had EXTREME buyers regret on this one as it was in amazing condition in hindsight. I had to do something about my buyers regret so....... got a cheap Prius (not a pheads car at all but actually really good, especially as a deliver car, which is probably why Uber drivers love them for delivering people) for driving the baby around and............... bought another Integra!

It has 125k miles and isn't in anywhere near the same condition, and cost me more than I sold this one for, is currently getting ruined by my brother who is looking after it while I sort a garage out, and has an intensely chavvy exhaust...... but I'm still chuffed to be back in one!

This time I PROMISE I will not sell it, and in fact if a Mugenified one comes up I promise I'll double up!
