BORING SHED!!!! Surprised its not in resale silver. I would be embarrassed to drive a heap of ugly old ste like this. A true dull as dishwater (DAD) car. It looks as exciting as a cardboard box. Even if you dump a 1000 bhp engine in this, it isn't for me, 2 out of 10. You would think this car came out in the 1970's or 80's by the looks of it.
As boring as your repetitive SOTW criticisms week in, week out. Begs the question, why do you even bother to read SOTW, let alone bother to bless us with your opinion? Don't think I've ever seen you post a single positive thing. Maybe if they have a fking sad little Escort as SOTW you might crack a bloody smile.Escort Si-130 said:

Precisely the appeal for me. If notbody knows what it is and it looks completely unassuming, it draws no attention. Insurance was half the price of an Impreza. If you had a Sierra Cosworth you'd need a rottweiler and a tracker before insurance companies would quote. Not for this, though. Could leave it in a car park overnight and be sure it would still be there to come back to. And yet I've lost count of the number of supposedly hot hatches and saloons I've had riding right on my rear bumper in the 30 limits, but who couldn't work out which way I'd gone once we got to the twisty bits.
People who know their cars know what this is, and what it represents. Anybody else, why would you care what they think or be embarrassed?
I had a used version of the saloon in the mid 90's. It was an awesome car - part of the reason I bought it was because it looked so understated yet at the time it was pretty quick. Made a great noise too.
I traded it for a VR6 and while that was fun I missed the rush of the turbo on the Subaru.
Excellent shed - even if it only lasts for 6 months you could have a lot of fun.

The lower power UK car was a nicer drive as it had no noticeable lag, although not as fast, and no one gave either a second glance, until you put your foot down.
Escort Si-130, You are an idiot.

I had the saloon version back in 1994, with a grey leather interior and some tasteful engine mods it was quite the Q car. Very solid, hugely fast across country and only bettered by my Audi RS2. The build quality was excellent, nothing broke and other than fuel bills and some turbo lag was a great car for 60,000 miles. I had a GTB Twin Turbo too, not such a good car and put me off subsequent Subaru purchases.
I had a go in a Gen1 like above when in NZ last year they do go and sound good, also had a go in a top spec 2L NA DOHC saloon. i quite like them and so many abut in NZ, never seen one over here. Over in NZ with Subbie's being everywhere can get WRX bits and STI bits cheap and turn a wagon like that into a really quick cross country wagon.

Hmm, I've always had a soft spot for the Legacy, especially in estate form...
A few drinks this evening and start placing bids... I make that a 4 Cam Turbo, as per the prior posted spec sheet. Sometime ago I had a UK saloon version on a P plate, this does have a different charge cooler though as pointed out elsewhere. Anyway a great Q car, but mine had the worst clutch ever, even after I replaced it. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) a couple of weasels helped themselves to it one night.
I've got a 'barking' GTB Wagon now, they just get in your head . . . . .

Fantastic cars. I had three of these in the very late 80's and early 90's. They stopped in 1994 so this was either a held over dealer registered car or an import and is indeed a Mk1 Quad Cam Legacy - Autocar cover had it down as the 'fastest estate ever tested' back in the day. And they were quick. I had my last one chipped by the now defunked Van Aarken Developments which gave it it 0-60 in about 5 secs and it would overtake most things from 50-70 in 3rd.
I don't get the pricing on this...Its a bargain at this price. These models are very collectable and last year £2k was the going rate for one like this....has the UK market dropped a bit on collectable Jap classics?
Someone could bag a bargain.
