I bought an Austin 1100 for 30 quid, got it welded and ran it for a couple of years and sold it for 300 quid. In percentage terms, my biggest profit! wink

More than one if I had the chance, but if it came down to picking just one car it would have to be my late '65 Mk1 1275 Cooper S. It was unrestored and had factory recliners' from new, in two tone grey with gold brocade trim... I should never have let it go...

I sold a few Mk2 Escorts I owned for around 500 quid,oh well...
Back in the early 80s I guess. Escorts were pretty cheap - friends and I used to buy old Mk1 and 2 Escorts for a few hundred quid to use over winter and the muddy and salty roads - fun to drive on the back roads and dead easy to maintain
RS2000s were £2k for a decent one - they haven't gone up like a £5k RS1800 though

To be honest something like the old 911s - 964RS - have gained far more money in a shorter space of time if you just want to get a big return
Im guessing about '90ish.Could pretty much stand in the engine compartment to mend them, certainly could on some Capris.

My last Mk2 Golf GTi, it was immaculate when I sold it, big mistake...E415 YGK where are you now frown
Still on the Insurance database (if it was a grey 1988 car) so still out there 'somewhere'. rotate
Yes it was grey...probably not in the condition I last saw it though
It's not on MID - and no real surprise when you look how badly it failed the 2008 MOT... Last SORN/tax expired in 2009.
