Around ten years ago I sold, via EBay my Lamborghini Countach LP5000S for just £35k, more recently (about 4 years ago) an Alfa Romeo Montreal; both r.h.d. cars. The Countach was simply too fragile, things would fail and be difficult to replace meaning it would be off the road 50% of the time - sort of car you need to just tuck away - but I have always preferred to use my exotics regularly. Most "useable" classic exotic I had was a 1974 Maserati Bora (sold that one too about 5 years ago).
You did what!!eek They're worth a smegging fortune now! (The car that made me a petrolhead, had loads of Athena posters of them on my bedroom wall).

The car I wish I'd stored rather than sold was the MR2 I had before I got the VX, '93 MR2 GT T-Bar in Yellow. I don't think it's on the road anymore. frown

Hired this for a weekend many moons ago when I turned 30. When I took it back they said they were selling it. They wanted £14K for it. Should have bitten their hand off, but didn't frown

Awww - heck!

I've been lucky in having had some quite interesting cars, 1948 Rover 12, 1939 Morris 8 4dr deluxe, Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special 5, Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HS being amongst them and many of which would be worth a mint of money today but the most unusual was a 1960-ish (I forget! Frequently!!) BMW 502 - an exceptionally rare car. It had a 3.2 V8 with some brilliant engineering evident throughout the car and was extremely luxurious. The radio was made by Becker and it was self-seeking and all valves - in three separate perforated metal boxes, one of which was under the bonnet! This one was in beautiful condition throughout and was one of just three made in RHD, although its junior sibling, the 2.6 litre 501 was more common ( they made four of them!!).

I was 19 at the time and was Jack the Lad in my exotic V8 swankmobile! The Managing Director of the company I worked for asked my manager whose car it was and was furious that the most junior employee in the Group had a better car than him! He commanded the poor manager to demand I get rid of it so I said I'd only do so in exchange for a company car. I was promptly given the keys to a brand new Escort 1300GT with sunroof, vinyl roof, tinted glass, yada yada and I sold the BMW to an Irish horse trainer from Newmarket for around £200!

I had no concept of the car's rarity then but even so, in 1967 the car was a total oddball and virtually unsaleable so I was pleased with £200.

I have searched for it since and DVLA have no record of 25 EXN............ (photos of similar car in LHD at home in Germany)
