I'm surprised there isn't a UK based channel that concentrates on more iconic stuff and classics. It all seems to be super of hyper car ''look at me'' type content. Even the stuff I used to like from Chris Harris has gone all ADHD since going Top Gear. The comedy fun measuring device, in the recent M2 revue, was just cringeworthy.
I think the recent Top Gear youtube uploads have been clips from the TV series last year which I agree were not very good. The more recently filmed "Chris Harris Drives" stuff has been more like his old channel, and hopefully they stick with that style in the next series.

Still hugely enjoying Salomondrin. The content seems to be getting better and better, even if it isn't 100% accurate or serious.

t's hard to knock Shmee's content but the recent 'GT8 having its badges fitted' 'GT8 getting paint protection' and 'getting the keys to my GT8' videos felt like one video spun out to three.
Not by accident...!

Schmee needs to work on his editing and put some more creativity in his content, at the expense of posting less.

i will watch pretty much any car related content. i stopped watching SOL when he was reviewing the new mustang . he was scrolling through an onboard menu and when he came to line lock , he completely ignored it . i could not watch him after that .i expect these people to have a better motoring knowledge than me

Shmee's latest vid shows the £1.5m Jag, the re-build of a classic.
I felt a little of what has been said here came through as he made mention of the fact the majority of his subscribers won't tune in for what appears an 'old' car preferring cutting edge new or never seen before new.
He asked to camera whether he should do more on 'classic' or older stuff and why it is that the viewing numbers would drop off even when the car being filmed is hugely significant, beautiful, expensive and fast.

It'd be nice to see good viewing numbers for this video in the hope he does more.

I mean sure he gets his money from the hoards of viewers who know no better and just enjoy watching a lifestyle they wished they could have...but as a more mature (in age) viewer, it pains me when he goes to these larger garages/collections and walks straight passed the greats from the 60s/70s/80s and 90s

Catch-22, who do you think has the biggest advertising budgets!
No idea who? Couldn't care less to be honest, sorry. I did not even mean that actually if you are also using any of those sponsors, watched a few videos of yours previously and there was not ? (Bmw i8, Audi R8 and GT4 bow )

Here is my summary than, as a regular pistonhead(am I?) if any vlogger videos pops-up on my youtube suddenly with a car/view/location I'm interested in, I would click and enjoy the video, could not care less how you guys afford it or how you present it or any other bla bla..but If I see a dodgy sponsor related to a video, I simply ignore and not come back. Same reason, I would not buy some might call immoral products or would not associate myself with a specific business. Personal choice.

That's it really. beer

Someone found out meet the vloggers uncle was arrested for dealing large amounts a few years ago, so they assumed the family was in the drug business and that is how they could afford their lifestyle and cars.

The uncle who was arrested must of searched his name and found that forum. He said he is related to them and that they inherited all their money. He also said they haven't seen their grandmother in along time and that the money has change them in a bad way. He is embarrassed to be associated with them.

He even made a video addressing it: https://vid.me/6XKG

Most of the "drama" is in the last 2 pages of that thread

I do, my fleet is very clearly insured for the purpose in which they are used for Shmee150; fully disclosed and discussed with my broker and insurance company.

Thank you.

I've now taken the time to read through this thread and with the exception of the "Hi guys it's Shmee" I liked Shmee's videos, having seen his replies on here I've been put off.

Is clicking on these videos enough to generate a view, or do you have to sit through the whole thing? Quite often the first few seconds is enough to realise the next 12 to 15 minutes could be better spent elsewhere.

If I recall correctly, the mathematical workings of what YouTube count as a view for each video is a bit of a secret and no-one really knows.

I thought it was somewhere between 2 and 5 seconds. Facebook is around a second IIRC, and that counts autoplays sans sound, which makes the platform numbers skewed.

From what I understand it's more like 15-30 secs but I don't quite get it.

There are other funny bits too like the same person watching more than once isn't two views unless there is a gap of some number of hours between.

When he picked up his LT Spider from Topaz Edward Lovett's Singer 911 was in the background but didn't get a mention. I'd rather have seen lots of footage of that.

I just don't think they know what these cars are? Unless it's a super car and has carbon options they're not interested.
