I get that most of this is direct at STG not me, but you and I kinda did this earlier in the thread, did we really need to start again?

People like that, and the people they attract, are the reason why I've not been to a PHSS for a long time.

I've not met Tim, but I've been on a few events with Sam from STG and he's a genuine decent chap with a real passion for cars.

If you don't like how he comes across in his videos I suggest you avoid them and get on with your lives. It's that easy.

OT:

You're missing out.

The vast majority of those I have been to in the last few years have been excellent and people are interested in cars of all shapes, sizes, vintages and costs.

On topic and not aimed at the above poster.

Whether you like or dislike the content and concept of the You Tubers under discussion making personal insults about appearance etc just makes you look a moron. You wouldn't say it in public (unless of course you genuinely have no social graces whatsoever) so why say it her ?

Would you expect to know what a guy is like from the character he portrays on TV? If not, why would you expect anything different here? Shmee has explained that there is a much bigger audience for videos which are not intended to appeal to petrolheads.

(BTW I have not seen the STG video. Why have you if you don't like this kind of thing?)

Relative to what? I've been going to PH meets going back to times over 6 years before you were even a member. Before the YouTube-ista, car clamberers and scrotes got amongst it.

They may be a minority, but they ruin it.

Ok that's your prerogative.

All I can say is the presence of a few kids with cameras has in no way diminished my enjoyment of the various factories, racetracks and other assorted places of interest where I've been to PH meets.

Shame it has spoiled your enjoyment so much.

Still what do us newcomers know eh ? wink

When someone scratches your car, it kind of pisses on the chips. People dragging zips, buttons, bag handles, umbrellas, camera paraphernalia or just plain walking into cars because they're looking at a phone or GoPro? fk that.

I've seen people physically climbing on cars to have pictures taken. Seriously, fk that.

Call me precious but I'm fked if I'm parking a nice car, or any car, in that environment.

Like I say that's your prerogative - I've never seen it or experienced it but you say you have and it clearly made you angry so fair enough.

I did a show recently that was packed out with the usual camera bag draggers and people leaning on it, it's to be expected. However, I left the car unlocked because I wanted the mirrors to stay in position and look more natural, a mistake as people kept opening the doors and trying to get in. I went over and shut the door at one point and asked a bloke not to open it, he then started with "Well, you should put a sign on it saying not to open the doors, it's your fault" I countered with "There's no sign telling you not to piss on the seats are you going to do that too? And it's a show, you know, where you look at cars?" All pointless, he told me I was being precious and if I didn't want people getting in I shouldn't have come. I thought I was there giving up my whole Saturday so the event could raise a lot of money for charity and people could look at unusual cars but apparently I was wrong.
I always try to get involved in the charity stuff but some people make it difficult.

Perhaps it is me. I can't see me going back to that one next year though.

I hear you.

There's a common theme here. "You put it there so have to expect it to get damaged......."

By which logic, "You're carrying the umbrella, so you have to expect it to get shoved up your arse. And then opened." should hold water, if you'll pardon the pun. However.....

What does this have to do with the topic at all? The kind of people that will disrespect your property like this are absolutely not the YouTubers/social media folks at all - they hold the cars in the highest regard and from everything I've seen will be looking after them as carefully as possible.

Steady on Tim, it's just an aside, the thread has lasted 92 pages and been round all sorts of nonsense, I don't think these couple of posts are going to lead to an investigation.

Tim, what this has to do with the topic is the youtubers and the sort of absolute morons that follow you guys around with no respect for peoples property. Surprised a supposedly educated man cannot figure that out.
