Petrolicious is a popular classics channel. Jay Leno does mostly old and eclectic cars. Harry Metcalfe likewise.
Although, none of the 3 channels mentioned rely on Youtube to earn a living.
Jay and Harry no, how to Petrolicious turn a coin? Their videos have been of solid quality for years now.Although, none of the 3 channels mentioned rely on Youtube to earn a living.

I'd read elsewhere that it was a vanity project, so had a Google:http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-pet...
Still quite enjoying most Mr JW vids and he's definitely having a pretty good time with his youtube channel at the moment:

Started watching a guy called DannyDC2 a few months ago.
Think he's on here but not very often.
He only has 15k subscribers but that's gone up from less than 3k when I first started watching him.
He's just a normal young guy (with a Yorkshire accent) who is into his cars.
Posts every few days or when he has done something interesting to show people.
His "Crashed at Nurgurgring" series of vloggs were excellent.
Has recently got into drifting with his E36 and the videos of that are great fun.
In one of his vloggs he mentioned he made $450 last year from Youtube.
Think that was for about 500k views.
Danny was a PH'er before he started the YT channel, I think - could be wrong tho!Think he's on here but not very often.

iirc, one of his first ever videos was of him scaring the carp out his GF in a DC2
On both PH, and in his videos, he strikes me as a genuinely decent guy, and the kinda guy I'd happily go for a beer with
He can drive a bit too; he did very well to get the lock wound on at the speed he did when the DC2 let go on the 'ring.
I won't lie, I dip into this thread now and then hoping to get a mention It's nice to be noticed!
I've just bought another DC2 this weekend as my trusty daily Audi A4 died. I've got a black UKDM which I'll be daily driving. So far so good though, managed to get 4x 17" alloys in the back last night. Who needs an avant
The video of me scaring Natalie in the DC2 went down as you'd expect on here. Some laughs, some people telling me I'm an idiot, the usual we broke up last year after 5 years though... I'm actually taking the girl I'm seeing currently out in the new Integra for the first time tonight, may have to get the GoPro hidden somewhere.

It's all personal opinion of course, but I much prefer to watch a 'normal' lad fking about with cars than shmee's more polished content.
I still think Rolex Dan is the real star of your channel though mate ;-)

Love his content and how it's just purely about the cars.A couple of others I enjoy watching are JamieFYD he does a lot of reviews on every day cars and gets to a few shows.
Another are the downshiftchannel, couple of lads from the north east only 5k subscribes and there contents improving every video, they are currently doing up a BMW 2002

Glad you like it man! That's all it ever is/was, just pissing about mostly. It's all personal opinion of course, but I much prefer to watch a 'normal' lad fking about with cars than shmee's more polished content.

Dan is a good lad, we've been mates since we were both on a Corsa forum nearly 10 years ago now. How time flies!

Same, I make a bee line for any new Danny DC2 content.
Generally has some funny bits, serious bits, fast driving bits, oily bits... we love your oily bits Danny.... #TeamDanny.. should make that into a t-shirt..
LOL
Glad you enjoy them too man. It's funny you should say that as I keep getting requests to do merchandise, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet! In other words, not sure I can be arsed with the hassle.
@ Danny DC2 I actually sat and watched 2 or 3 hrs of your videos last night on Youtube, Loved the rebuilding of the Nurburgring Integra!
I started following you on Noseybook sometime last year as like a lot of people have said its nice to watch a normal lad doing what he loves and working til god knows when to get the car ready for a track session. Mates mucking in and scrounging parts from all over the shop is good to see!
On the flip side i also like to watch Shmee and company as i far as i'm concerned its another world away to own some of the cars that get driven and find it fascinating especially the build videos of the GT8!

Okay, i'll pop up. secret DannyDC2 fanboy aswell.
Really enjoy the vids, quite into drifting myself so the more recent vids have been quite entertaining. I noticed you are at three sisters on Sunday, It might be worth me telling you another youtuber "Monky London" (who im sure you have probably heard of) is going aswell, might be worth getting some tips from him (who knows you might steal some of his 100k subs )
Agree with the Rolex Dan comment, definitely a hidden gem. He is quite funny when he is vlogging when you are on track.

I'm interested in what youtube does with the last 20 seconds of videos. I saw superspeedersrob mention something at the end of his videos, and said something like youtube doing its thing.
Anyone have an idea about that? I know that generally it seems to be people asking for subscriptions and comments and likes and what not.

Youtube added an option to overlay the last X seconds of your video with subscribe and "other video" overlays.Anyone have an idea about that? I know that generally it seems to be people asking for subscriptions and comments and likes and what not.
People had been doing this for a long time anyway in edit, then overlaying click boxes to link, but they didn't work on mobile etc.
The new overlays are more interactive and importantly work on all devices, but you do have to remember to leave X seconds at the end of your video to fit them in.

Dan's actually coming down to rescue my Audi tonight so I might make another quick video and show him these comments.

And Asda should stock Betamax video players. Their customers don't want them, they won't make any money on them but just... because.so much amazing vauxhall metal ignored ...
I'm no big fan of Shmee, I'm surprised so many engage with his style but each to their own. But he clearly has a good handle on what his audience want, and consequently what makes him money. Anyone else is free to start a 'competitor' channel focusing on 1980s Astras if they wish.

did he have a bet to see if he could say commercial vehicle 50 times in one video?
i do want one of those ute's, just badged properly as a holden
I think you'll find it's an oot and not a Ute. What a commercial vehicle though, suhc a mad concept for a commerical vehicle. Youwouldn't believe a commercial vehicle could have such a powerful engine and still be a commercial vehicle under current commercial vehicle laws but that commercial vehicle manages it!so much amazing vauxhall metal ignored ...
