Out of interest, how are ads setup on youtube?

When I watch SOL, every ad is a 30 second + thing I have to watch in full to continue.

Everyone else I can skip or it is a contextual ad.

Is SOL just greedy or something?

Adblock is broken for youtube for firefox :/

Yeah TGE is not great. Don't know why he bothers, clearly knows nothing about the cars just buys them and sells them. It cant be worth his time filming, editing and uploading given he must be earning pretty good money doing what he does... which is perhaps why he does it because he promotes his fitness brand at the same time..

See, I disagree with that one, Shmee isn't a car geek, imo.

Chris Harris, Harry Metcalfe, Danny DC2 - they are all examples of car geeks.

Shmee strikes me as a guy who likes cars and driving, but seems uninterested in anything that isn't a supercar - try finding a post of his on PH that doesn't relate to supercars!

There isn't anything wrong with that, but a car geek he ain't, imo. Which is why I can't relate to him, and why I don't bother with his stuff.

Which is pretty much bang on, because I'm not his target audience.

I think the term car geek is broad church.
Having 1:18 scale models of all the cars you've owned goes some way towards being included IMO, he owns a non-supercar Focus RS and Mini Cooper...
Having a business that relies on exclamation marks and carbon covered supercars does not mean that as a person he does not interest in any other type of car...
I'd be extremely interested in 675Lts if I could afford one...as would Monkey London et al, I'd wager...

+1 He seemed genuinely interested in the 'New' Jag Heritage E Type and did a nice vid on it but as he explained it only got a fraction of the views his others vids get because that's not what his target audience want to see.

The worst thing about Shmee lately was completely ruining another youtubers 1st video about his new car so he could steal all the premier views for the content, not only that but when talking to the owner he was constantly rude and cutting him off mid speech etc.

I get the feeling with shmee he is only friends with people who have worst/not as good cars as him basically an ego on legs.

Not the only one to suggest it either if you look at video comments!

Subscribe to him as well.

He's gone from 3k to 15k I think since I started watching him.

He does like his drifting :-)

I'm fascinated that you see it like that! Obviously Sam and I fully discussed our plan about 2 weeks before he even got the car, and of course it has helped drive huge numbers of traffic his way - the mutual win of course is that rather than putting out a competing video on the same day it gives my channel some more views and in exchange sends him a few thousand more subscribers, while also acting as a collaboration which plays nicely into the YouTube algorithm. If you create content together like this, you don't steal each others views; it exponentially increases; 2+2=5 so to speak. Neither he nor I are unhappy about the results and you can be sure his video would have had fewer videos without the collaboration effect.

Seems like the opposite.

One of the things which makes him successful is that he has kind friends who have better cars than him, and who let him film them.

Not sure how I missed "speed with Gareth jones" (not a vlog I know ) http://www.garethjones.tv/onspeed/onspeed300.html

Has the bloke sniffpetrol.com on it, and I like his sense of humour.

I'm currently listening to the older episodes, a great couple going round the rolls Royce factory.

just another cookie cutter vlog/fitness/sports cars channel late to the fray. Pretty sure him (or someone he knows) created an account on here to try and promote it but thankfully the topics got removed quickly. how up your own arse do you have to be to make a video on how many trainer boxes fit in your boot and think its content.

SHmee;

The last Aston with supercharger video was quite interesting. I believe you also owned R8, would you make any comparison? Even though R8 is totally different beast with mid-engine and awd. Quite interesting as both roadsters and similar power output.

Nothing against the guy but he comes across so dis-interested in his videos that I stopped watching. Knows nothing about cars, even the ones he owns.

Really feels like he's 'doing' YouTube as it's the current thing to do.
