I know that somebody took it for a test drive as soon as I got back too, so it could have been out many times in the day.

Tim what software do you use for editing and uploading as the video quality is pretty good

And out of your current crop of cars which is your favourite and least favourite
Which has bettered expectations and which hasnt

Editing is nothing fancy, just pieced together sequences in Premiere Pro but due to pushing out so much content we don't spend very much time editing it; even compared to other channels. I take the view that we're not trying to create artistic masterpieces but rather focusing on the content of the piece.

My current favourite (even with only 126 miles on the clock) is of course the GT8 because of how enjoyable the whole experience to get this far has been through the build process; and how entirely personal the car is.

The Focus RS I would give the award of bettering expectations; I didn't think I would also be so keen to pick that key up when I want to go somewhere - it's so capable in every respect and just a complete all-rounder without sacrificing fun.

If I could call it disappointing, it would be the McLaren; not because of the car (which us truly brilliant) but because of the brand. I've been a huge advocate for McLaren over the last 3 years or more but the number of things that are being done wrong throughout the company is really starting to grind my gears. There is a huge tendency to ignore their biggest customers; and I don't mean me, but I'm constantly on the receiving end of stories with things going wrong for McLaren customers. Unfortunately it does diminish from the ownership experience.

@Tim, if you’re genuinely stuck for a motorway car, see if Porsche won’t lend you that Panamera Diesel(?) S for an extended trip? I was overtaken by a 2017 Diesel S last week – very quick cars, perfect for motorway.

edit: On second thoughts, all you vloggers demand a car exhaust that can wake the dead, but a standard diesel car won’t tick that box.

Have you looked into getting a long term test car?

Given your number of subscribers you must be able to get an interesting long term test car suitable for racking up the miles on your trips?

That could be used for the more mundane travelling and then use the 675 / GT8 for more interesting features.

I'm not sure he's ready for the fame though.

I'm flying to Stuttgart today to spend the next 10 days in a Panamera 4S! Looking forward to it as I'll be taking it into the Alps for some skiing, should be fun.

Definitely no Lambo, they don't yet make a car with a decent amount of storage!

The new GT-semi estate thing would be the perfect replacement for the FF....
I mean I wouldn't replace the Ferrari at all, but I understand why you might want to, and if not a Ferrari GT$ Lusso, the only 4WD, roomy, low, fast thing is made by Porsche right?

Agreed, I don't think I could bring myself to replace the FF with anything short of a GTC4Lusso - only problem is waiting for somebody else to take the depreciation hit first! I ran through a spec out of curiosity and it came to £293k (to match the FF in appearance), but I don't fancy being the one to lose £100k in 18 months on it.

absolutely, it is crazy depreciation.

Most exciting thing for me coming out of Ferrari has got to be the new F12 variant. Current one stands out in their range so classy.

keep up the good work looking forward to some more epic road trip videos.

The diesel version?

For the UK to Top Marks trip in April, I'd take the GT8. Depreciation by putting motorway miles on it, is that really a problem for a rich man like yourself, Tim? You were looking at a GT-S, but this is how Autocar compared the GT-S to the GT8...

Overall, the GT8 feels more absorptive, and more suited to road driving, than plenty of comparable sports cars with less talent on a circuit, such as the GT S and Audi R8 V10 Plus. When you want to use the car as a grand tourer, you have little reason to question its suitability – provided you remember your earplugs.

SOL has a friend called Tom. Who owns a pretty cool fitness brand. His content is pretty sweet tbh

TGE_London

Oh and he has a nice F12

h
Christ how many rubbish bloggers can there be with videos titled something like 'Should I sell my Lambo?' or 'Things I love about my M4!'
Yeah TGE is not great. Don't know why he bothers, clearly knows nothing about the cars just buys them and sells them. It cant be worth his time filming, editing and uploading given he must be earning pretty good money doing what he does... which is perhaps why he does it because he promotes his fitness brand at the same time..
just another cookie cutter vlog/fitness/sports cars channel late to the fray. Pretty sure him (or someone he knows) created an account on here to try and promote it but thankfully the topics got removed quickly. how up your own arse do you have to be to make a video on how many trainer boxes fit in your boot and think its content.
I only ever tune into his channel to find out what ever happened to his disappearing GT4. Last time I tuned in, he kept saying ‘nipples’...

Metrosexual men who keep referencing ‘nipples’, in a non-smirky kind of way, kind of creeps me out, so I won’t be tuning in again.

The Panamera is a 4S Diesel indeed, it'll be good to explore and to be honest probably exactly the car I should buy if it was all about what the head thought - unfortunately the heart chases a bit more flair!

My view with the GT8 is that as I plan to own it for a long time and I want it to feel quite new and special throughout that. When you go on road trips you remember the events, the convoys, the track days and the best roads; but you forget the motorway legs very quickly - even though you can spend thousands of miles on them. It may handle it fine (although as pointed out by Autocar the noise would be quite intense), but I want to make every mile in the car a special mile. I do intend to take it on certain legs, and it's not exactly going to be a garage queen as no doubt it will still cover at least 5k in 12 months - I just don't want it to be a silly number as it builds up too much over time.

Probably something that did surprise me driving the AMG GT was quite how firm the road was compared to any of my larger cars (I exclude the Focus RS and Mini). Honestly I felt that the GT R was more compliant, and I didn't expect that to be quite so noticeable even though it was pointed out by most journalists at the GT R launch and their subsequent reviews.

If Ssangyong or someone of that ilk were making a car as gopping as the Panamera it would be derided. However, because it's a Porsche people think it's cool?

I saw one today. Everytime I see one it reminds me just how hideous they are. And massive. Big, ugly, nasty st.

Interesting, care to elaborate any further on this?

I know well the trouble a lot of owners of the 12C had in the early days trying to sell their cars when McLaren dealers weren't interested in buying them back but thought they'd sorted they were on top of their customer service.
