haha, agreed!

What I want to know is how TGE and Shmee are both in the mix to get a 991.2 GT3, despite only owning one Porsche (GT4) and both getting rid of them so soon. Maybe if I filmed my GT4 collection video I would have stood a better chance of getting a GT3 allocation laugh
I only speak for myself but my car did 625 miles on the first day, went to track days, did 10k miles in a year and then sold back via the OPC. I don't think that's going to get me a GT3 allocation, but I'd very much like one naturally!

I was surprised to read in that Independent (no longer an actual newspaper) article that Shmee was 29 years of age. I had him down as being older, or is 29 his Showbiz Age?
Yeah, I'd have said nearing 40 rather than 30. I guess that's why he's not grumpy yet.... it'll come wink

Schmee, forgetting the 'stats' for a minute.
Do you honestly believe 95% of your audience is between 25 and 34?

How many people of that age do you think stops you in the street etc?

I just don't believe that it's true. I would've said 95% would be something like 12 to 18 or similar.

Funny thing is that only about 3-4 years ago I was repeatedly being told I'm not old enough to drive, looks like I grew up about 25 years in less than 1/5th of the time!

95% refers to the male proportion, not the breakdown of age groups.

It happens.

I was out on a stag do and had reached the point at which I was tiered, hot and very very cross at being subjected to Phil Collins. I then turned around to faced my Dad also looking quite cross on the other side of the room.

Then I realised it was a mirror.

Been watching some of that TGE guy recently. It would be easy to dislike him, but that would just be envy. Seems like an amiable fellow. Very watchable and I hope he continues to roll out more content.

But you sold in such abnormally short space of time for car ownership, so effectively flipped knowing the GT3 was in the pipeline. The mileage is irrelevant, besides most of the mileage was by treating the car as a pool car and letting others drive it.

It’s frustrating to see real enthusiasts robbed of the GT4 (and now GT3) to vloggers/flippers that never had any in intention keeping the car, particularly when they are profiting from each allocation. If Porsche / OPC want the publicity then they should just lend you a car to review / send you to the PEC like any other journalist would get, but not sell you one.

In that vein I watched SoL's collection video. The most staggering thing on it was the people who went to the dealership to watch him collect it and then those who waited for 6 hours at the wrapping place for him to arrive in it. Seriously, have they got nothing better to do? Some were young lads maybe 16-19 but there were a fair few chaps visible who were usefully older.

I'm sorry but that's bks.

A year is not an abnormally short time for owner ship, especially not for someone with 5 supercars which are almost constantly rotated for viewship reasons and to keep things fresh.

Also Porsche don't see a year and 10000 miles as a flipper.

On the other hand, my gt3 was 18 months old when I bought it, with 1100 miles on the clock and I was it's fourth owner.

Anyone who wanted a gt4 could get one, they just had to be persistent.

My thoughts on flipping is it isn't really an amount of time that defines it (barring buying today selling tomorrow) it is how much use the car gets. So in schmees defence even if he had sold it in a couple of months the fact it had been used and enjoyed with 10k miles on the car it shouldn't be described as flipping.

I'm struggling to see how anyone could view this as flipping.

It's also not flipping if the car isn't yours but part of an advertising payment.

Some of these channels will be receiving use of cars as part of the payment structure from advertisers. Hence why some are in their possession for quite short periods of time.

He sold it back through the OPC so I am guessing they were more than happy to make 2 lots of money (on the purchase and re-sale). It is not flipping as he clearly didn't run the car with re-sale in mind!

If I was Porsche I would love for him to buy a car, he purchases them himself, he runs them for many miles across europe and on local journeys, oh and thousands of people watch him do this.

This is nearly as bad as defining sleeper in the sleeper thread lol.

Whether you call it flipping or not, taking priority over others and only keeping the car short term is poor(regardless of miles). Some of us have been told we need to purchase 7 new Porsche over the last 3 years to make the GT3 allocations, although Im confident Shmee will jump the queue and we'll see a 'OMG I've just bought a GT3' collection video in the next 6-12 months, followed by obligatory exhaust and wrapping vids. Then it will be sold next year to make way for another profiting car (GT3 RS?).

You must be extremely naive to think he never had resale in mind!

There's a massive difference between flipping and considering resale. Anyone who buys a £60k+ car without considering the resale is an idiot.

But I fear I'm just banging my head against a brick wall here.
