I don't understand how Shmee is so popular, the videos are boring, he is so wooden with his style. How has he got so popular with no personality?
fk knows. The average 13 year old car obsessive must see something of themselves in him.

His normal videos are bad enough, with his dad dress sense, his cringey catchphrases and his fawning over everything and everyone but the Gumball ones were something else entirely. Hanging out the side of the car, high fiving teenagers, throwing away t-shirts etc. A less likely 'celebrity' is difficult to imagine.

And have you noticed his face? It's massive.

I'm sure Shmee would be a decent chap in real life.

Perhaps his popularity is because he seems normal to a teenager watching YouTube in their bedroom instead of doing their homework. Getting to drive fancy motors without being a film star or Association Footballer.

Hate these vlogger channels with a passion it's all crap. I remember attending an event where schmee was, he had around 10 spotty teenage oiks under his command, they took the photos and videos while he walked around lisping his way through a video about a 918 being fast. Utterly cringe worthy, couldn't stop laughing while he was talking into the camera so I moved on.

Look up cringe in the dictionary and you'll find Shmee right there.

Calls his fking cars Shmeemobiles...
I'm afraid that the first time one of his videos popped up in my YouTube list, it was one of him peeling wrapping paper off a car he'd bought.

Which he had put on himself 5 minutes earlier, complete tool.

hehe

I think he took offense to my comments on his numberplates as my reply on the Crappy plates thread got deleted too. Shame.

In fairness to him he must put in a fair bit of graft, he's constantly travelling, filming, editing and uploading ste.

But from his "Hi guys, I'm Shmee" through the arselicking, the giggling, the "awesome, mental, crazy" verbiage, the endless plugs for Topaz detailing, his wky pals (Seb Delanney is possibly even worse), the bad hair to the "Chee-ers" at the end he's intensely irritating.

There's plenty other guys wth nice cars I am completely ambivalent to, so it's certainly not envy. He's just an insufferable dobber.

I'm know he reads PH sometimes so if you read this Shmee I'm sorry. I'm not really though, and sort your hair out ffs.

I find the young pretenders like schmee mildly irritating as I feel they dont come across as knowledgeable as the likes of Harry Metcalf / Chris Harris and the Drive crew. They just bang on, in an espresso 'verbal diarrhoea' fashion about how nice the car is to look at and how good the interior is, but with very little talk about how the car handles performs etc. I'd take the quality over quantity videos any day of the week and its clear the youtubers are in it for the money rather than for getting factual, accurate information across. Entertaining it is not.

Schmee seems to know only the basic figures and engine size of the most modern Supercars, and obviously how much they cost. He and most of the other you tubers are totally oblivious to the numerous rarer and more interesting cars they see regularly at meets etc. It's just all about the wealth and showing off with THE most expensive/powerful car around.

That's what I dislike, the whole 'Supercar Lifestyle' crap which schmee seems to have now written a whole book about and which I can't see why anyone sane over the age of 12 would ever consider buying.

Saw Shmee today and his entourage at Croft Circuit.

On his videos it just seemed like he's taking a selfie talking about cars but he had a couple of lads carrying cameras around with him.

His Ferrari is nice smile

Not that I have anything against them for it however all of the vloggers have other forms of income and/or rich families which have allowed them to create the persona they have on social media (Paul Wallace from SoL being the notable exception as I believe he is self-made). I can't see any of them making decent money through YT as the majority of their audience (teenagers) don't have the ability to invest in the lifestyle they promote; which 17 year old is going to take their 1.2 Corsa for a full detail at Topaz?! As such, the advertising rates received aren't great and certainly not enough to sustain the lives they purport to live.

(The gaming vloggers are a different kettle of fish and have genuinely been fantastically successful given their audience can invest in a £40 video game and that, because of this, the advertising monies are significantly better.)

What is even more awful [cringey] is the people who have rich parents however pass off the parental car collection as theirs with phrases such as "our P1" etc. I'm a little bit sick each time I hear/see that on social media.

Try Dedication Blog. Decent chap who doesn't BS about how he's afforded his cars (through his own earned money) and quite informative.

He must have, found a market and the Gumball stuff started it off for him people wise and the interest in cars anyway.
He tapped into that area,as most of us on the forum are here the reason is cars a common bond.
The advantage he has now single, no tries family no day job. He must have to find the money from somewhere a sponsor etc.

This means he has,the freedom to travel and drive and doing his videos. . Also when the car market being so fast paced new models every week he then has plenty of material for a video.

Also the Internet, is a passport to the world and people.

Someone said to me,we pay your bills etc for six months go make a car programme it could be done.

You need a idea, right people car and money.
Goodluck to anybody who has a passion for cars and can earn a bit.

Shmee's got bag carriers?

That's about as lame as the guys who used to trail behind DJs carrying their boxes of records into clubs.

90% of the time its an inheritance or wealthy parents that back this kind of thing. Some dad that owns a carpet business, car dealership, scaffolding company etc. You only have to inherit a flat in london from your parents when youre aged 40 and you can buy a house and a couple of nice cars.

That being said, there does appear to be some animosity towards the chap and he is just doing what he likes and is fairly successful with it so good on him. Whether he makes £30k pa or £300m pa it doesnt alter the fact that his day to day life is driving nice cars and stopping for the odd coffee and chat with car guys. The money is largely irrelevant.

I agree. All these keyboard warriors sitting her slagging him off is pretty poor form considering what his past time is and the title of the forum. If you don't like him, ignore him. No need to sit here slagging off his video (which you clearly watch despite hating him so much!). For the record, I prefer MR_JWW for watching enjoyment.

For what it's worth I have recently started doing car vlogs, for a few reasons but notably I quite enjoy cars and filming but rarely get to combine the two in my professional life.

Also I have watched a few of these videos myself and thought "I bet I can do better than that".... so I'm trying. Quite enjoying how it's going so far.

I'd post a link to my work but unfortunately Pistonheads get the hump. If you search for "JayEmm's Lotus Diaries" that should point you my direction. There's a thread about the car in reader's cars.

I don't expect it to be a career, but it's something nice to do. I'm trying to add a small bit of colour and variety to the scene, there's a few other guys out there whose work I really enjoy.
