I think I saw your Brabus 190 at the Silverstone Classic about 5 years ago. It's very nice.

No Brabus badges, is that standard fare or have they been removed?
As far as I know Brabus take a car away and "rebuild"
Did yours start out as 190 Cossie?
Your engine looks to the untrained eye, totally different from the straight six 36 AMG engines. Do you know what the base engine was?

Brabus are really wild cars.

I remember seeing my first ever a 7.xltr V12 in an E class W210 shape I think. My god was that brisk - I gave everything my old Fiat Couoe 20 V Turbo had and this machine flew past like I wasn't even there. No idea what power it had and never seen anything like it since.

I wonder if Brabus modify the E55 K AMG or SL65 Bi turbo unit wink

Mine as far as I know never had a any external Brabus badges
The car started out as a 2.6 with a M104 engine with a few thousand miles on the clock.
It went to Bottrop for I think 10 months came back to the Uk and was registered as a new car.

So...is it a Brabus, or does it just have a badge?

Whilst I do adore those wheels and the C36 in general, I always wondered what Mercedes were playing at when it came out. The four speed transmission might be great for town driving and motorway cruising, but didn't they famously state that they had never considered it an M3 competitor, rather a 911 competitor? With a four speed auto? No chance!

Could these be ordered with a manual? I'm guessing if they could, it'd be as rare as a clean sheet in a nursing home, as I've never seen one. Strange decision if they didn't, considering the 190E Cosworth with it's manual 'box had just gone out of production when these came out.

Brabus is an independent very high end vehicle commissioning company. They will make whatever you want and are not really tied to Merc at all. They may have done some joint ventures together like the Smart but that is all. Merc invested in AMG. Brabus is an utterly different league your talking money no object. Sir wants that sir will have that can you do this of course

Brabus are getting closer and closer to MB as the years go on, most have all the Brabus sales booklets on display, all will fit and service Brabus D Chips for Diesel motors and Mercedes now include Brabus modifications in their warranties.

I'm researching a dog-leg manual conversion for mine. Interestingly, the 320E which was available with both 'boxes was quicker in automatic form though. Having said that, it can definitely be done.

The C36 was never intended to be a track car; the box isn't at all bad, and suits day-to-day driving really well.

I just hope they drive better than the W202 C280 Sport I had - dreadful steering box, rock-hard ride with no significant handling benefits, comatose 4-speed auto - the list goes on....

Most disappointing car I have ever had the misery of owning!

Manual, Munich and N/A for me now - so much better.....laugh

The Hammer was the best for this shape of Merc.

Probably, but I did drive a 190e 2.3 Manual Cosworth a motor-trader mate had before I bought my C280 and it was just so much more PH in every respect - even the C280 Elegance Manual(!) he had was better than my C280 Sport - similar ultimate grip but some compliance in the ride!

But Brabus models always were something else (dare I say they make AMG look like a badge on the rear) - my mate's W124 Brabus 360 was bonkers (in a good way)!

As I see it AMG = M whereas Brabus = Alpina give or take - the former is a factory option (price-inflating device?!) whereas the latter is a properly engineered car (even if they are nearly always 2 pedal devices)!

I loved my c36, a 1 owner 50k mile car with the cloth chequer seats. Had it back in 2003 - Fabulous thing. Then my mate borrowed it at my suggestion while I was on holiday and wrapped it round a lamppost 30 minutes after me getting in it. He's still my mate as he very honourably paid me back (he was 3rd party only). You live and learn... Car was a write off though...

Still fancy another. Never found another with the cloth seats in decent nick though...
