I loved my c36, a 1 owner 50k mile car with the cloth chequer seats. Had it back in 2003 - Fabulous thing. Then my mate borrowed it at my suggestion while I was on holiday and wrapped it round a lamppost 30 minutes after me getting in it. He's still my mate as he very honourably paid me back (he was 3rd party only). You live and learn... Car was a write off though...

Still fancy another. Never found another with the cloth seats in decent nick though...
Sad story to begin with, but you are still mates so all good!

Really lusted after a C36, but in the real world I so wanted a C280 until I bought my Sport POS!

No issues since - I now have manual N/A straight 6s because Munich made them whereas, at MB they were special order only and then V6s............sleep

I have cloth in my C36, certainly rare, though was talking to a guy in the MB club earlier in the year who claimed to have a white C36 also with cloth.

I still find myself looking through the classifieds for one every now and again - was more than the sum of it's parts. If you ever decide to sell, drop me a pm...

I loved my C36. I was the second owner, and only about 21 at the time. i looked a lot younger and got pulled over more times than I care to remember!!

It was a great engine, and a pretty special car. More special than the c43, when you realise the engine in the c36 was a lot more bespoke. When you floored it, it made a noise like it would eat small children!

Just a shame the paint quality was so poor from merc during that era.

The chap with the white car in the OC has had it since new; possibly the only one-owner car left by now.

I love the black / white / re pinstripe cloth which was available for a while on the early cars. My car is pretty sparse on factory-fit options, but in its defence, the leather is unmarked, and it's good for the dog....

I see yours is sunroof delete too.
Mine is also pretty slim on options: A/C (with sunroof delete), Power drivers seat, Cruise and Adjustable column.

Not so good pic of the interior

Nice. bring a set of draughts along for when you're stuck in traffic!

Mine doesn't even have an adjustable column (or metallic paint). Some years ago, I called into my local dealer who, on receipt of the chassis number, printed off the car's original build specification.
